I don't understand why this whole thing is so tough to understand, it's very simple.

Neither Thielen nor his wife wanted out of Carolina, it's why he signed the new deal to come back here this year.

The Vikings had WR injury issues in camp, when that happened they then needed a WR and reached out to us to try and get Thielen.  Once that happened, it changed everything, because it was an opportunity for a player who lived his whole life in that state, to go home for his final NFL season.

Once that was on the table, yea, of course he's going to then "request a trade", but what people don't seem to grasp, is that Thielen didn't just come out and ask Morgan to trade him.  It ONLY happened because the Vikings became WR desperate in the weeks leading into the season, but I'm a million percent convinced if they didn't, we'd never have considered trading him and he wouldn't have asked for one.

It was a very unique situation that arose because of another team's needs, not Thielen's doing.

This was my reading on the situation, too.

Thielen was happy to be here. But, if he can partially help his current team (trade value), and return home for his last hurrah, why not?

I did not feel like he forced his way out of here last minute...

I don’t know how we can ‘know’ either way, we can only speculate what was going on in the family.

I think it is clear it wasn’t his choice to leave that team and have to go elsewhere. Also that the family would be excited to go Home.

I guess I just don’t give enough of a poo to make a big deal of it, like to impugn the FO over it or whatever other repercussions it has. I don’t really have a problem with the cap savings or the trade compensation.

I don't think he lost any steps from last year even a little bit. The steps you are talking about he lost several years ago.

He was pretty solid last year. I haven’t watched him in MN but with Addison out and Jefferson double or triple covered every play I would think if he hadn’t last a step from last year he’d have more than 2 catches…

He didn't go through camp with them and is still a 3rd or 4th option, at best. Not to mention that is the 30th ranked offense at 145.7 yds passing/game.

If people here(or there) thought he was going to waltz in and repeat his Panthers performances, it wasn't happening.

He is/was our best option and that would only be the case in Minny if about 3-4 more guys get knocked out for the year.

Renfrow isn't in playing shape, he can't block and looks so small out there. He'll be better later in the season once he gets his legs and strength back. It really blows that XL isn't there mentally. I hope Tet plays. I came into the thread looking for updates and instead we are talking about Adam Thielen's wife.

We need Coker back ASAP. If Coker can stay healthy, He's a good #2 to Tet even if its in the slot. David Moore can play for now since he actually blocks and knows what he's doing, even if he's slow. I like Brycen but he needs more time to learn blocking

Until the Vikings badly needed WR help, there was never a remote report about Thielen wanting out, and beyond that, he brought out Bryce and all the pass catchers to Minnesota for a few days to work out a month or two before the season.

He wasn't trying to force his way out of here until the Vikings possibility came about, trying to say anything else is just attacking him for asking for the trade in the end and being sour about it.

It would be like we had injuries and reached out to the Ravens about Smitty going into his last year and then him telling the team he'd love to come back home.

Tetairoa was limited again in practice and listed as questionable, although he and the team seem to think he will play.

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have ruled four players out for Sunday's game against the Patriots, including both starting outside linebackers.

Patrick Jones II (hamstring) and D.J. Wonnum (hip) have been ruled out, along with tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) and wide receiver Xavier Legette (hamstring). All four were held out of Friday's practice.

Otherwise, everyone else participated in some capacity on Friday.

Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) was limited and is listed as questionable. He practiced on a limited basis Thursday for the first time since a Week 1 injury.

Rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan (calf) and running back Chuba Hubbard (calf) were also limited and listed as questionable.

When I attack someone, it will be very clear. I don’t even care that much it is just speculating and discussion.

I don’t think I ever claimed the timeline varied from what you just gave.
But to speculate further, the fact that he did not have an avenue to go back home does not preclude his family not being happy about not being there. Maybe they didn’t even want him to play another year, who knows?

Yeah I said that somewhere. People are overlooking the facts to the situation.
He wasn’t in camp, and there is no way he was going to walk in and be a big part of things immediately.
It shouldn’t take a real long time though, because the same coach was there in 2022 AT’s last year with the Vikings. He had 70 catches that season fwiw.

    • About the Hail Mary… you probably saw but if not, we just went over that a few days ago and I learned that maybe Reich did that to piss Tepper off (heh) and that Bryce was really pissed and so was Tepper. I had intended to search out the replay of that game and look at Reich and Bryce in that moment, for fun. And look at the um, postgame, um, press conference. Haven’t done it.  We are talking 50 yards. Definitely not 60. I think I maybe have seen 45 yards in a game but him throwing 50 yards, IMO, is probably gonna look like a rainbow and take a longer time to get to the target. He has to hit the driver to get that distance, can’t use the three wood or 2 iron like the big boys. Like most NFL QBs. It is kind of like Pinero, his leg is good for what it is good for but anything over a  certain distance, you just can’t do. We moved on, and bang! 57 yarder. We can try them now.  Said it plenty but I just don’t want that kind of limitation put on my favorite football team.
    • windows exist for basically every great QB.  Go look at what Peyton turned into a top 5 O his first year in Denver with John Fox.   They had nothing there worth talking about.  He made Thomas.  Go look at what Brady did when Gronk got hurt.  He made Edelman.  Brees, Lamar, Cam, Rodgers and on and on. the entire reason the Panthers could sell their fanbase on mortgaging our future on Bryce….was because they claimed he could do what these dudes could do.  Which is make water out of wine when needed.   Not that you want it to be that way every season.  But good QBs can 100% can elevate and create players when need be
    • This is wading into waters that will rustle jimmies. Ultimately if you are a QB needy team that hasn't had a winning season in near a decade you start with a guy who has the necessary physical traits to largely put the ball where he wants to on any given down and build from there. That's not what the Panthers did.
