This is a pretty good commentary, though I think the whole comment on contradictory approaches glosses over / ignores the obvious: Canales is in not in charge of personnel outside the offense, and Bryce is SEVERELY limiting what they can do.

I would take too many words to say that. That’s about how I read it.

As to that option year, if they were going to trade him, wouldn’t it be desirable to have him controlled for 2026 and ‘27?

That would be the only reason I could not go into a canniption fit over it.

I hope Canales is doing his whisperer thing with Hooker because they way people are complaining he won’t get a chance to work with anyone decent.

Wouldn't it be better to trade him after year three and let someone else decide to pick up his option? Hell I would be willing to eat his rookie contract for a 4th round pick. Thats how disgusted I am with the situation.

I don’t really know how that option thing works, and was unsure if it transferred with a trade unless we did it. Obviously your scenario a better option.

Im curious what the reaction would be if there was another benching. You had people who dont even watch football like that calling out the Panthers like lebron james for mistreating bryce. Lmao

Who gives a fug? Tell Lebron to pick his bitch ass up off the floor and stop flopping when he's built like an NFL DE. Yeah, Bryce is a shitty NFL QB but he's a helluva lot tougher than Lebron James.

it's always the ones you don't expect

five years from now we're going to be reading stunned reactions from Adam Thielen. "I just thought he liked to collect children's shoes. Yeah it was weird but everyone has hobbies, ya know?"

Lol those shoes were for him to wear. About a size 6

We picked up Sam's as soon as we traded for him so I thought it was possible. I remember many of us complaining about the fact that they did that before he even put in a Panthers uniform. If im not mistaken Sam was going into his 4th year of his rookie contract.

Yeah that’s right. I forgot about that.

I liked Sam, but before he played… What a move.

You will see that and probably much more. Its the way people are now. Its all about getting attention for one reason or another. Amd it works as folks always fall for it.

You are supposed to be able to tell from Bryce Young?
It’s like giving a chef dog food and expecting a seafood dinner.

Geno Smith was a 10 year veteran when he finally had his breakout season with Canales as his….qb coach and passing game coordinator. Not his offensive coordinator. There’s no shortage of veteran qbs who finally had success in a good situation.

baker mayfield, former rookie of the year, looked fine after he had a conversation with Sean McVay. The Bucs offense was even better in 2024 with Canales.

regardless of what are reasonable expectations for Bryce, the whole qb whisperer thing has been nonsense from the go.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
