Horn with a big catch to start the second half

princely & scourton set the edge made plays

Evans had a big catch on the first drive

Etiene with a few nice runs

Ransom played decent

and TMAC WITH TWO TDS.

when is the last time we have had 7 rookies contribute in one game? Looking to be a solid class.

And a Rookie Kicker who kills It on kickoffs  and fgs...

Had Diggs not grabbed XL on that double move, with the ball placement on Bryce’s throw, that was real close to being a TD.

I still don't understand how that play wasn't pi and they only called it defensive holding... The ball was in the air as he held XL.

Can't believe I'm giving canales credit, but he made some great calls having our receivers run double moves on Diggs. He has always liked to jump route and that's how you punish him for it

Cam Jackson playing his role too. Not gonna rack up stats but contribute to stuffing the middle

That's what I want to see out of interior linemen. He may not have a lot of tackles or sacks, but if he can eat blocks or Force the running back to have to cut back a different way because he clogged the lane, he did his job

And guys like Wallace who have been ass are starting to put good games together. Honestly they should’ve played in the preseason and Carolina might be above .500 right now

This class has the goods going by these first few games. Have to sustain it to confirm but it is a welcome change from recent seasons.
NFL fuged the preseason up. You have to see the depth so you can make good decisions. I don’t see how you can work the 1st teams enough to get honed and do your depth evaluations too.

For a team in our situation, not expected to compete for much, I think it is reasonable to take care of your depth evaluation in those three games and do the best you can otherwise, using the first couple of weeks of the season to hone the 1st teams and shake them out.
It is different for different teams but this has messed with the routine they had. and is why we see so much more bad football early in the year.
IMO.

Rookies are contributing, but somehow not enough to push Nick Scott off the field.

Don't hate me, but I actually thought Nick Scott played a good game also. He did great in coverage early on in the game on that Thursday down to force an incompletion and hold the cowboys to a field goal.

Sadly, I think our worst players on defense were our corners. I think that's the first time all year I can say that

he attempted a bad tackle the sprung Pickens loose for a big gain, but other than that today was a cleaner game for him. the incompletion on the goal line was just a bad pass/drop because the ball hit the WR on the shoulder pad - a catchable ball. I wouldn't credit Nick Scott for forcing that incompletion but then that might just be my own bias 🙂

It’s the Cowboys.  That’s why.  They definitely gave him the least penalty possible, when the risk he was running was a 30+ yard play or a touchdown had he not done it.  The no call on Diggs for slinging Tet down was also beyond egregious.

I was mad when everybody was saying to get rid of Fitz after his bad Patriots game. Dude has played great otherwise and is still a rook

The dirty kicks are off the chain but you right...  can't turn our back on him until giving a full season to develop. We've had way worse and kept lol

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
