They are getting there. They have beaten the teams they should have, so far. They should have beaten the Cards and would have if Young hadn't spotted then a couple of touchdowns in the 1st quarter.  So far his limited play has allowed others to step up and give the rest of the team enough motivation to fight on.

Yeah. I have not been disappointed in the defense nor the offense except the lack of faith in the QB - and he has done some decent things. It isn’t all bad Just so limiting and that’s what I mean by as currently constructed.

They have mostly beat who they were supposed to.
I am not sure how to view the Bills. Except to not be expecting them to lose three in a row. I would say they shouldn’t be expected to beat them so if they do then they elevate into the other category of pulling an upset or two. The next step after winning those you should win.
I am really not a greedy fan- meaningful games in late December are going to keep me engaged and basically non pissed off.
I mean that is my bottom line expectation from the franchise on a yearly basis.  It will change in specific seasons with maybe some higher expectations but we aren’t there right now. But I can see it from here with a tweak to the defense and better QB play.
PS - how I really feel about .500 and now .570 is we were there at the end of 2022 and threw it all away to step up - and are just now getting back there. After so much waste of assets and the improvement that could have been made with them. Super frustrating.

I think the only real shot they have at beating the Bills is to run the ball. Then run it some more. Run it until they have no RB left that is able to stand up. Anything short of that the Bills are not going to lose this game.

They've had extra time to study this team and they will have home field advantage in Charlotte. If Canales gets cute and tries to get into a shootout with Allen he will lose.

Yeah ageeed. We are back to Fox ball and that is dependent on this patchwork OL. Especially looking forward to seeing the old school play action game, how that works.  Because it should.
And the defense will be tested.

Back to back losses and the bye week to stew over it, I don't think there is any recipe to beat them this week.

And that has basically nothing to do with my thoughts about the Panthers, I'd probably say the same thing if the Bills were playing any one of about 20-25 other teams this week in that scenario.

It will look different in some respects because Andy is not going to go off script. He will also take more chances because he has nothing to lose really. He's washed and he knows it but will do the best he can. I admire him for the effort however fleeting it may be. It is what it is. Sometimes miracles do happen but im not expecting one.

Dave's only shot is to test that 31st raked run defense. Anything that keeps Allen off the field as long as they can.

I haven’t seen enough to know if we will get two years ago Andy. And week 3 2024 Andy was very good.
It looks like some drop off may be in play.
He has the experience and the eyes to compensate somewhat. (It is more OL dependent than usual considering he is not too mobile).
As an aside, that Russell Wilson special late to Legette was how I expected t see him used with Bryce. Hasn’t happened.

I'm as puzzled as you are about that. Honestly, that's probably Young's only throw he's afraid to throw. He should try the Russell Wilson special out sometimes. It may just save his career.

The last 24 games - all of last season plus the first 7 weeks of this season - the Panthers haven't beaten a single team with a winning record.

They've had the 3rd easiest schedule in the entire league (#1 in the NFC) through 7 weeks. They've faced only 2 teams with winning records, and got absolutely stomped in both of those games.

Excuse me if I'm not ready to throw a parade cause you barely squeaked out a close win against the Jets and Dolphins of the world.

Thank you

Win coin toss.  Elect to receive.  30 minute opening drive for a score.  Recover onside kick to open 2nd Half.  30 minute drive with kneel downs to end the game.

Win.

That is pretty close to the plan. Long, time consuming drives should be the strategy. Do not get into a shootout with Josh Allen. We would be bringing a slingshot to a gunfight in that scenario.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
