Well he's the best qb on this team that's for damn sure. Let that sink in for a minute.

That is by design because our front office made a concerted effort not to give him competition two offseasons in a row.

I always agreed we should have legitimate competition. Extending Andy was pathetic

Okay, lack of belief in Young isn’t hatred please dial it back.

Anyhiw I think wherever will find ourselves now is in a bad spot to fairly judge him due to the OL being in tatters. Maybe they aren’t but I don’t know what we’ll be looking at next week.
If he doesn’t light it up, which I felt he needs to do to justify faith in him, there are gonna be convenient excuses.
Bksck cat.

I don’t think anyone could light it up in this offense sadly. Prime Cam would make some plays with his legs and open things up. Other than that I don’t know who could do anything with Canales and his ass play calling

Im not sure you can call anything excuses anymore. You can point to a reason, or cause and effect if you will for everything about this team. You can point to everything from coaching decisions to player responsibilities. There are no excuses, only results.

That is where I saw us being this season, finally. But that may have just gone by the boards with this OL attrition.

And there are fair minded people who believe he has a bigger upside that has yet to play out, but man there are some people that won’t hear anything that doesn’t align with their fanning and the excuses will fly if he doesn’t perform. We have lived that already.

Well from where I sit in the peanut gallery there's no excuse left. Injuries happen and others have to step up. We aren't winning more than one more game at best. And that's if our backup level qb can manage to pull himself together and do his best to not lose the game before the 2nd quarter starts. Im not talking about Andy if that's not clear.

You just validated my claim that there are reasonable fair minded people. You and I have disagreed on many things but it was always civil and respectful.

Sadly there will be plenty of people who will validate the rest of what I said.

It’s big boy pants time in year three, I think he needs to show he can overcome the obstacles and elevate the players around him to deserve to be the future.

He's not elevating anyone around him and will never be that kind of qb. He is what he is. He will always need a good team around him to play his best. His best is not a game changer but game manager. If you accept that then you will understand what the outlook is going forward.

I think you just described about 60% of the quarterbacks starting in the NFL today. We may never see another quarterback in Charlotte like Cam that could put the team on his back and will them to win.

I would argue the percentage is higher than 60%.

I accept that that is what he is, I don’t accept settling. I say keep looking. Keep taking shots. Absent any clear improvement from his current inconsistent performance.
He has had a couple of good ones but they are not followed with more good ones.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
