If this team lets Rico walk without trying to sign him if he continues to ball out and rolls with Chuba 2 and 3 yards amd a cloud of dust next season it would be on brand for them.

sure would, after we paid chubba, traded up for brooks and used another 4rth for TE.

Sure why not spend more resources on another RB?

You want them to sign a 28 year old RB to pair with the 27 year old one we just signed?  Remember people wanted Foreman paid with us and he disappeared from the league a year later. Don’t sign older RBs, especially in a contract year. We probably shouldn’t have signed Chuba either as we are already looking at the next RB to sign.

Trade the lesser back not the one at the top of the league in statss.

Yes let's gamble if the unproven Brooks who had major ACL tear in college had another one in just his 3rd game in the NFL.

That's the Panthers I've come to know over the last seasons.

Derek Henry is 31 and still lighting it up.

It's not as if he's had a ton of wear and tear, last season was his first time getting significant snaps.

A 2 or 3 year deal shouldnt break the bank, what do you think other teams will be signing him for?

if you look at the numbers going back to last year when he started for Dallas the last part of the season Rico has been one of the most efficient rushers in the league.

I dont believe this claim by the way, Canales just hinted in the presser this week they're going to be giving Dowdle a bigger role in the offense.

It would help if you would specifically say what claim I made that you disagree with.
I wasn’t really pounding the table for anything just looking at some factors.

never mind Insee what you meant by the claim comment now.

I'm not arguing with you.

You asked a question if teams decided to take away the run game and force Bryce to beat them what was Rico at the point.

I was just noting going back to last season he's been one of the most efficient rushers in the league.

Henry would be an outlier and a future HoF RB. Using him as a standard should be malpractice. They also don’t have another expensive RB to pair with him like we would.

I don’t think his production is sustainable with a banged up OL and better defenses on the horizon. Like I said his value will never be higher. So I’m taking that into consideration along with the drop off in value from Rico vs a healthy Chuba/ETN.

This is the logical assessment.

We aren’t talking about his entire production we are talking about the difference over what Chuba and Etienne can produce.

We also don’t know if he really wants to be here after the last month. I would think he is cool but we don’t know.

To me it depends on the return  I would consider it for a 4th and would just do it for any more, which won’t happen

You were quick, I edited to say that I understood your point about the claim, after reading a couple more posts.

I hear you about Rico. And I can’t say that my scenario will happen but I feel like they will try to make us one dimensional.
I guess that hinges on is Rico good enough to stop them from shutting him down? If he is, that is pretty huge. Most backs aren’t able to excel with a concerted effort to bottle them up.

Are we watching the same games?

We are. It’s a fair point. We aren’t replaying g those game every week we have new challenges ahead. Those were Bad defense he torched and the OL played a big part in his success too. I think he was great as far as it goes.

Against a good d that wants to stop the run, is he enough to overcome that or will he yield less production? I guess that is the question.

If he isn’t the difference between his production and Chuba’s might not be so great.

also, the locker room should be considered. What would the effect of trading him be? Probably not great.
I only said ‘consider’ not ‘would definitely’. I am trying to consider the angles.

    • Brother I hate to tell you but that's a terrible draft. You hit at 51 but the rest is...not good.
    • If you check next year there's 50 mill in cap space, * without this years draft class or next. 5+ should allow this year given its top 51. Next it jumps and you need another 5-10 mill for 27 draft class. Most team like to carry 10 into each season for injuries. It goes fast....... I feel it pains as a "hater" *but* if my fav Panthers team decides BY is thee guy......(just how...)... I feel they should offer that malik Willis contract as the goal and base for a contract.  I believe they feel strong enough to sign these top FA, they are going for it right now........ So that hurts my idea of drafting a starting QB in 27 or even 26....Its hard to reset "going all-in" with a rookie QB learning the NFL game. Hell who knows what QB will be cut after this year too, no one thought Tua or Murray was getting cut before this past season, NO ONE. Watson could be a FA at any point this or next.  Honestly wildcard in this mofo is using the 19th on TY simp, let him learn at his own pace and flip BY for a mid pick or just ride him for the whole 5th year. Now you have a low cap hit young QB that's been learning for 2 years and you got him for the next 3 if he's the guy.....why not!?!?!!?
    • Mike Kaye replying to above post: ”If he plays well next year, they will almost certainly restructure to open up cap and push down the cap number. His contract becomes guaranteed for Year 3 early in Year 2 unless he essentially bombs. I think 3 years, $90 million is the deal, which will almost certainly be reworked if successful. If it doesn’t, pretty notable gamble (let’s not kid glove this).  As with any deal there is nuance.” https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2033246139026174146?s=46
