Sadly, Florida is a better program.  Their NIL budget is 5x what Carolina's is and that is what makes a "program" these days.

Gone are the 90's where every kid and rapper wants a Carolina Starter Jacket and Teams hat.  

This program is not even in the top 20 of jobs or merchandise for anyone under the age of 30.  Which last I checked, is every single recruit.

I've said it over and over again, even before we hired Hubert.  Make Mark Few the richest college basketball coach in history by a mile, and MAYBE this gets fixed.

Otherwise, we will hire someone like High Point's coach or some Tarheel re-tread that Roy approves of and continue this same nonsense.

The NIL budget could be increased for UNC.. They did it for the shitty football program. UNC is one of the top 3 biggest brands in college basketball. If the budgets were equal, the only people that would say Florida is a better program is Florida or duke fans

The idiotic huge investment into Belichick and the commitments he contractually forced to be spent on the football program is a big problem right now. If he was delivering promise on the field it would pay off but Belichick isn't holding up his end of the bargain in that regard.

I have heard from a big Rams Club booster (a whole row of third row tickets at the Deam Dome) that Hubert is gone. With the Belichick disaster and basketball floundering the money is gon a dry up if they don't do something big and it's cheaper to do it with Hubert right now than Belichick, plus most of the donors are still just way more into basketball based on the history of Carolina athletics.

They did it because college football brings in so much more money than basketball.. Unfortunately they spent it all on the wrong coach. 

I'm glad Hubert is gone but they have to get this hire right

That's how the sold most of the donors on it. More money driven from football would equal more money for basketball but then they had to commit to guaranteed spend on football in Belichick's contract so if football isn't driving additional revenue then in essence it's just stealing from basketball.

You're severely misunderstanding how NIL works.  BYU, literally a non-brand for any coach, recruit or just casual fan, landed the highest paid player in America. 

And if "budgets were equal", the entertainment company I currently run would be Disney.

We live in a world where Michael Jordan and his influence/money could buy us anything we wanted.  And he's not willing, so be prepared for all the mediocrity. 

Hire the High Point coach, let him bring his PG with him.

Dude. They're the defending champions and are still in this year's tournament. Meanwhile the Heels have Hubert Doofus Davis as their coach (for now). You're talking about prestige. I'm talking about right now. Florida is the better program.

K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship.

It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.

      It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?

      I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
