Any time Panthers are looking to draft or sign a QB, the crop is at its worst.

There’s literally nobody worth drafting in the first round in 2026, and free agents are slim pickings.  Maybe Russell Wilson who is officially washed up or Mac Joned who has a noodle arm.  Tepper curse strikes again

Mac Jones is under contract in 2026.

The "projected" available QB's are:

Rodgers will not be interested.

Wilson is not likely to be interested.

Of the remaining, I would contact Mariota, Taylor, Z. Wilson, Flacco, Pickett, Trubisky, K. Allen, Bridgewater, Minshew.

Find one of them, draft a QB on Day 2 or 3. Roll with whomever wins a spot on the roster between Bryce(assuming you can't trade him), Dalton, Vet QB and Rookie QB.

Good God that’s horrible.  I would only kick the tires on Zach Wilson.

The Colts did fine with Jones. Going to have to take a swing. It got thr Bucs Baker too. Reliable staff can find someone playable for a year. We have been watching 3 years of crap so the bar couldn't get too much lower. Mediocre would look god teir at this point

Anyone worth trading a low pick for?

Trey Lance - he is young and needs reps. Looked good in preseason

Justin Fields - showed flashes, maybe the QB whisperer can help him find himself as a passer

He would probably be close to the last guy I would take on that list.

Get a decent veteran bridge and start spamming rookie QB's when they are BPA. Build the team and just figure it out. Maybe if we build a very good team that is MISSING a good QB then we can be an attractive spot for FA older QB's that still have some life left in them.

Absolutely not. They are not worth a 7th.

I'm not sure why so many of these posts leave Sam Howell off the list. He had good numbers with Washington and as far as I've been able to see he's still on his rookie contract.   (Doesn't mean there isn't an extension or something I just couldn't see anything where he's signed beyond 2025)

Howell is still pretty young, got a good arm and did well in 2023 with the Commanders. Yeah I know 21 Ints is scary but that was also his first season at QB and many HOFers have had rough first seasons.

D. Watson, Stafford(unlikely), Mayfield(never gonna happen), 2023 QB Rookies, Davis Mills, Brissett, Mac Jones, Will Levis, Drew Lock

Will Levis intrigues me

You want to know the worst part? We had a plethora of options the past couple years had we not given up so much for Young or at the very least just selected Stroud after our move to #1. We made a terrible move and then made a terrible pick and got rid of one of the best FA QBs at the same time in Mayfield.

    • The whole Keegan Michael Key thing is being over blown. It was a 2 minute zoom call. Rico's celebration etc. was like a half an hour distraction.  A little bit of levity every now and then isn't the end of the world. I'm not even that mad at the Victory Monday. They won a tough game on the road and Rico and the oline were getting banged up pretty good. However, if there was a lackadaisical lack of preparation, that's on DC for not getting on that ass. Also, I cringe whenever I hear "leadership council." This is the NFL, not camp Wakanda.
    • Yea I agree I gotta give it to Morgan for finally drafting a player who might develop and become a good player with the team. After years of Scott Fitterer’s garbage I’m hopeful they’re drafting at least a few players who will last more than 2 years on the team.
    • I've seen QBs come back and succeed. If Darnold and Mac Jones can do it, Howell isn't necessarily dog poo. I'm not saying he can thrive, but I'm also not saying it's impossible.  Many of the problems these kids have are based upon the fact that they are immediately thrust into the spotlight before they're ready. They should be sitting, just like in the old days. They should primarily be sitting and learning, not being put under a buzzer where the primary focus of the higher-ups is throwing poo at a wall and seeing what sticks before a rookie contract runs out. I think this is definitely the case where it's obvious that it's a mind thing--bad decisions and/or learning at a slower pace--than a lack of physical tools. Sometimes different people, theories and concepts are coming so fast that the kid is screwed from the start, and we never get to see a legit sample size because things keep changing too fast.  So I'm not necessarily phased by being passed around "like candy." If they're some good bones there, we may as well take a look. Being in QB hell, you shouldn't dismiss QBs out of hand. Some of these guys are still young. I would bet that if Howell were in Minnesota or Green Bay, he'd be better. Darnold is legit better, and Malik Willis looked like a different QB the last time that we saw him. Lance, Howell, Levis, they're all guys I'd look at.  To the OP's greater point, I just think they're actually are some guys in this class that could possibly be legit, and it's not as bone-dry as some are assuming.  Even Drew Allar might one day be legit.
