What a franchise QB looks like

That is how I remember it too. It was similar to how people portray Bryce in 2026 without his option picked up. I mean people didn’t think it was gonna be peaches and cream with Cam on an expiring contract, same as they are predicting for Bryce.

IIRC the impression I got was Cam was not gonna be happy and if Cam ain’t happy nobody’s happy, to borrow a cliché from mama.

It isn’t like Bryce because Bryce is the same Bryce, but Cam was not the same Cam. You cannot overlook that but I felt like his attitude was he expected the team to do business as usual.
Not to acknowledge the fact that he was physically different and have that reflected in a new valuation.

Which I don’t know how that was supposed to work out..

Agree 100%

Cam was a superstar that wasn't ready to acknowledge that he was no longer that. I don't even blame him for that. Cam could at least say he deserved to get paid cause of who he was. But glad the team didn't resign him.

Hell we drafted another one first overall who cant throw the ball,at least Cam was a threat to run...

No one is making the argument that Cam was a better QB in every aspect than BY.

BY's super power was supposed to be his decision making... and we can see how that has played out..

His stats for the Patriots 2020 look better that your boy Bryce this year, so shut the fug up about not being able to throw...

Dude.. that doesn't look far off..

And sure, Cam looks like he threw for slightly more yards.. if you watched him you could see him arm was broken... you cannot sign him to a new record breaking contract with that.

At top pay scale, me too. I thought there was a way he could have  made it work with his diminished physical tools but he would have needed to accept that he should probably be in a lower tier, contract wise.
His ego. Tepper’s ego, the agent in the middle… didn’t work.

We had a Franchise Qb, once, but people got mad that he put a towel over his head every now and then. I beginning to believe this fan base doesn't deserve a Franchise Qb.

He had some maturity issues early and would pout.  He outgrew them.  A frachise QB is a franchise QB at all times---so those criticisms were justified.  It is not to equate that to wanting Bryce tarred and feathered, however.  It is OK to criticize when you see a flaw or fault, but on the other hand, you better praise the good.  My concern about Cam was Rivera.  He sacrificed Cam, in my view, by having him run a lot.  Cam kept RR employed.  Cam could have been frustrated with his situation and nothing more.  But having met Cam, I can say there are few if any people like him.  He is/was genuine.  He cared about the people who cared for him.

I keep saying it--if he ain't an Alpha, he ain't a franchise QB.  Discuss.  When I think of Alphas, I think of Allen, Mahommes, Rogers, Hurts, Baker, Burrow, and Jackson.  They make everyone around them better-not all are the best QB in terms of talent or skill set, but the voice in the huddle 10 seconds before the snap is important.  It gives the team confidence and hope.

People forget that it was reported HE WAS NOT GOING TO PLAY OUT HIS DEAL.. and he wanted a new deal.

So the decision is, pay him a new top of the league contract for a QB with a busted arm.. or let him go.

...It was time to let him go.

I never heard of this. Iirc he said something during his training about he's willing to play but still wanted more of a commitment from the FO.
