Look at the passing chart. Nine of his 15 completions were at or behind the LOS. This is just how we have to run offense with Bryce at QB.

So what? Tom Brady had a whole career with passes like that. If the opposing team can’t stop it, continue with it. When Cam was the qb, fans were begging for passing options around the LOS. It why CMC was drafted. Just give Bryce credit.

Not specific to this but in general as to your criticisms….
When we say he played well, excellent, are complimentary and placing credit, why can’t that be enough?

Because it seems that we must go the next step and say that he is our future and to pick up the option, extend him, something like that for people to stop saying we hate him. To satisfy the pro Bryce bunch.

I am not ready to do that off of a good week when the next week and the week before do what they do. There are years of it.

I do not expect anyone who doesn't believe in Young as the future to be swayed this year - regardless of how well he plays from here on. That's OK. I understand, it's no big deal. I just get tired of the constant small bits of praise only to be followed with some passive aggressive derogatory comment.

When he has a bad game, it's absolutely toxic around here. When he has a good game, the haters still bring that toxicity to any post that allows them to get a dig in.

I did. He made two really nice passes.

right they have to do it by may 1st of 2026.

why is that not an option?  Pick up the 5th bring in comp and or draft a guy?

Because you don't bring in competition if you're paying your QB 27m. Look at what we did with Darnold and Mayfield. He's either your guy or he isn't. Hes not playing on the final year and most agents aren't going to let a 5th year stand. They'll push for the extension now. If we're willing to do the 5th year, why aren't we willing to do the extension?

That's why I didn't care what the win loss record was this year. We needed to know if Bryce is the franchise QB or not. At the end of the year we have to make a decision that locks us in to Bryce for the next 5 or we move on. Now maybe his agent doesn't play hard ball with the Panthers, but I don't see that happening. Most likely we decide Bryce's future in Carolina at the end of this season. Extend, trade or cut. That's the most likely scenario based on history.

Bryce's play over the past 3 years, are you paying him 50m a season? And who are you letting walk to do it? Give Bryce his extension and Icky is all but gone. Can't pay everyone on that line and there are too many bonuses that will be accelerated. It's not so simple as just play him on the 5th year.

Was the final pass not nice/clutch?

Was the tight window pass to Coker on 3rd down not nice?

Yeah, he can make some nice passes here and there. He's always been able to. Now we need to see him do it consistently and I still need to see him be able to handle pressure up the middle. That's Bryce's real Achilles heel. He can play well when he doesn't have pressure in his face and the field is clean in front of him. We already know this.

Come on LG... That's literally every QB in the NFL's Achilles heel. Brees and Brady too.

I’d say he can be very elusive in the pocket, but I agree that being consistent is something he needs to work on. The Saints game is the perfect time to begin that consistency.

This is your perception and is subject to bias. Before the game was over for ten minutes there was a thread created saying the option was being picked up.
Many comments For Bryce include digs my friend. Most of them. You likely gloss over that when you see it.
Probably because you agree, even though you seem able to refrain from making those types of comments yourself.

Let's try to enjoy the fact that the Panthers have meaningful football in December.

I'm an arm chair QB like the rest of us and I'm starting to think that Canales' play calling is impacting Bryce as well.  The part I don't know is if Canales is calling limited plays because of Bryce's limitations or if he's just calling bad plays.

But its not every QB's absolute death knell. You can watch every other QB in the league stand in the face of pressure and deliver good balls. Yeah, pressure uo the middle makes life a lit harder on any QB but with Bryce it's an absolute play killer. Rhats the difference.

The time for that was week 1. This is essentially a contract year. Based on his body of work as a whole, are you ready to lock him in as your starting QB for the next 5 years at 45m AAV, because that's where we are.

Yeah I wasn’t that concerned with W-L either. Agree that evaluation is paramount.
I had hoped the last 9 games were going to clarify the situation but is still just as murky over halfway through that stretch. With more bad than good games.
There are rules to these contracts and they favor the teams when it comes to service time. If he holds out he doesn’t get credo for the year. I know they do the technical move of coming back just under the wire so they can get contractual credit for the year but if they really played hardball they wouldn’t have to play him, and he couldn’t show how much of that big money he was worth from the bench

We have some leverage. If he doesn’t convincingly demonstrate that he will not drag us down but instead has turned the corner and will help us win, I don’t know how you give him the money.

You can’t pay him big time money for a poo game then a good game over and over like this year has been.

Canales is definitely limited by the skill set of his QB. In my opinion.
Not that if he weren’t it would look like some genius razzle dazzle offense, it probably would be middle of the road conservative.

edit: definitely appreciate the meaningful games in December aspect.
