lol.  I call Trevor Lawrence average at best and a bust of a pick.  He was built in a robot lab so his ceiling is forever high. 

but yeah, if you have watched the Jags all season....the boneheaded QB has had his WRs drop a ton of balls (league leading).  So for this particular year, it is worth mentioning given they lead the league and many have been huge.  It's like when we talk about the stats Cam would have had and mention Ginn's huge drops.   It's worth noting.  Doesn't change the fact Trevor play the position dumb and always will.

Rookies often come out hot and then they struggle once more tape is out on them.  Let's see what this kids does the rest of the year and next year.  I'm no NFL scout, but he does seem to be calm and in control of the offense which is a big deal for a rookie.

He's also 26 so he has more general game experience than a lot of rookies.

yeah, 7 years of college football at 3 power 5 schools.   You got to think he is at least mentally ahead of a lot of rookies.

I do think that is going to be an interesting thing to track the next few drafts, the guys that stay longer in college and get more experience in different offensive system due to the portal.

I tend to believe this will produce some better QB's in terms of NFL readiness.

I wouldn't be shocked if Rivers had 1 surprising opening decent game in him.  But that arm hasn't seen work in a half decade.  He gonna pull a Brian St Pierre and blow it out after a game lol

That's true but honestly I've been very surprised with how well his talent level has translated to the NFL. The guy looks to have legit franchise QB tools. I did not anticipate that. I basically thought that Kirk Cousins was probably his absolute ceiling.

The trade off for him is likely gonna be a shorter career though.

Being a 26 year old rookie in the NFL is something of an uphill climb.

Trevor was doomed early by Urban. I have a good friend who's a Jags fan and obviously I followed him at Clemson. He was really starting to put it together before the shoulder injury. Whenever I watch him now he's so obviously damaged goods. Jags fans all know the specific hit too, just like we know the two plays that killed Cam's arm. Trevor's throwing motion has a weird hitch in it that wasn't there at Clemson. He looks like he's aiming the ball instead of throwing it. 

Shough looks very legit, arguments about supporting cast not withstanding. He fell in the draft because of his age and that's something that's going to have to necessarily change over the next few years as college QBs get older in general. Also Kellen Moore is a very good coach and he's guiding them through this cap hell period pretty well and has them playing hard every single week which is more than Canales can say. Also Staley is a stud DC and I can't imagine anyone is going to try to poach him after what happened in LA. Saints defense is quietly one of the best in the league.

That is basically my point, it depends on overall development time whether you are 20 or 29.

Understood, and lots of rookies at various positions need almost remedial training these days.

There are guys who pick it up within a year or two though.

      Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.

      Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
