I mean, you are doing here what you do.

but yeah, the people you are "addressing" here don't think as you want to portray them.   No one actually gives a fug about literal stats.

threatening play and overall load carrying ability of an offense matter when it comes to a QB.  Especially, if your goal is to build a really good football team.  Thats generally the fixation of most teams.  Find tthat dude.

Sometimes stats get talked about just because it is an easy way to talk on a message board about QBs that don't get what they are looking for and don't view as the answer.

Funny how they keep quoting and basing their arguments on those things they "don't give a fug about".

Perhaps it is an "easy way" but I'm not about taking the easy way. My path is to look at what's good (without trying to minimize it or rationalizing my way out of it) then look at what's bad and make an honest call based on real truth.

Basically, it's like saying you'd rather play against a team at their best than hoping they're all banged up by the time you face them.

As to finding "that dude" you do so by finding who helps you win games.

Like it or not, Bryce is doing that right now.

It's a bantering message board.   I could do a performative dance that conveys what my eyes see if you want.

you are fixated on this Mike Remmers "helped" us go 15-1 and have one of the best seasons ever so don't say he stinks and needs to be replaced angle.

Bryce has been a key reason in why we lose games more so than being a key reason in why we win them.  If you want him to be warm body this year that might make a play here or there? Cool.   Us staying on the Bryce train makes us irrelevant in the big picture.

Wrong.

Mike Remmers did indeed help us to our best season ever (including having some very good performances) but he also still needed to be replaced based especially on how the season ended.

Those two statements are not mutually exclusive. They could be equally applied to other players, and this happens on an annual basis all over the league..

As far as Bryce, based on everything I'm reading what "I want" has become largely inconsequential.

All indications are that what I wrote that I expected after the Rams game (i.e. Bryce will get his fifth year option) is pretty much happening. Joe Person called it "an easy decision" at this point.

The future beyond that is, as the song goes, still unwritten.

But the near future looks to be fairly settled.

yeah, but you are still largely just playing a game here.  Whether the example is Remmers, Rex Grossman, or any other weak link on team.

I'm here to talk about what I think should happen.

Not what I expect the worst org in all of professional sports will do.  I would assume the safe bet is they will continue to make huge blunders and people (a portion of the fanbase) will cheer the mistakes on as they happen in real time.  It's been SUPER easy to call the big mistakes of this franchise ahead of time under Tepper.  Most hate it when you do it....until later on.

In the end, people will talk about Bryce Young how they talked about Matt Rhule.   And there were still EXTREME defenders going into his clear lameduck season.

I mean...it kinda is 😕

It might not be a "substantial" portion, but we genuinely do have people who are still upset after games we've won because...stats.

Kinda silly in my opinion, but...

maybe you should read it again, twice if you need to

A substantial portion of this fanbase would prefer we win 1 out of every 4 games (which Shough has done) if we threw for 220 yards a game rather than have a winning record and be in the playoff hun

I read it.

The point he was making (via satiric exaggeration in this case) is that some folks on here who could choose to be happy and celebratory  about winning games choose instead to grouse about Young and his stats.

Would you deny that?

The Bryce "haters" don't go around starting a bunch of anti-Bryce Young threads.   They aren't unhappy we win.  But after a win, the Bryce brigade is going to make 89 threads and tie every conversation into Bryce actually being good and needing the credit.... Dude is a roleplayer and spotty one at best but it can't be just that.

like I have said, if people treated Bryce like the QB he actually was.....we just wouldn't be talking much about him and just enjoying the surprising wins in harmony overall.
