The NFL gets a hard on about pedigrees and pedigrees don't come any higher than a Manning at QB. If he looks significantly improved next year I'm sure they'll largely overlook this year vs. struggling to reconcile Bama Hurts and OU Hurts.

I think they like pedigrees when the output also matches. I get the idea of liking a pedigree because you should expect the preparation for the NFL should be exceptional.

To date, I have seen very little of that with Manning. If anything, he looks like he has been very protected from having to actually play at a high level until this past season. And the results were not good.

I think grandpa let the cat out of the bag when he spoke out of turn. My guess is that the Manning clan also internally is very aware that he isn't anywhere near being ready for the NFL.

Yeah, I think old man Arch basically git caught doing a Jim Mora "playoffs" reaction to fielding a question about Arch entering the draft?  "Draft?! You wanna ask me about the NFL and this kid??? I just hope he can play decent at the college level."

Red flags were FLYING when he didn't start over Ewers as a sophomore. Ewers was a decent college QB but a surefire NFL #1 overall pick should've easily leapfrogged him in his sophomore season. When that didn't happen you knew something was amiss.

If we go anything less than 2-1 down the stretch I can't see them picking up the 5th year option. Bring in a rookie and another vet and give it an honest competition. If they do that and are completely unbiased Bryce won't win the job

The belief among insiders, beat writers, etc is pretty much universal that they'll pick up the option.

As far as any sort of competition, wouldn't hold my breath

Probably  true but  outside of pass rusher and MLB, I think the teams foundation is in a good spot. Especially  looking at our division  going forward.

Weak division with an oline finally...

19 tackles and 0 sacks for a D that's overall slightly worse than ours. Dude is completely washed.

I'm being partially facetious. At this point, Gipson has actually flashed a little so I would rather get an extended look at him to see if perhaps he can be an adequate backup EDGE replacement for Jones or Wonnum this offseason.

We would just be a substantially less talented Bengals. It's fun to dream but you would probably be looking at this roster being the at peak of its greatness right now, and it's easily a bottom 5 roster in the history of the franchise.

I would imagine the draft capital we would have to give up would put us in a 3-5 year hole almost immediately.

Plus, if I were Burrow, I would immediately retire if the idea of being traded here was on the table.

His biggest  issue is never having an oline and a cheap owner. Can't say that's the same here but definitely  not the top of the list. Can never tell but he has never had a oline that protected and a steady running game.  Playing in our division  is another selling point but either way we have to address Qb 1 way or another.

When you get all these "generational" flags flying around, you better look like Andrew Luck in college. Andrew Luck wouldn't be toting Ewers jock around for two seasons.

I was on that bandwagon of sounding the alarm pretty early on in the Manning Texass tenure. Ewers is a fine college QB but there should be no doubt that a true "generational" QB wouldn't be losing a job to that guy.

Betting on Tepper's Panthers doing something stupid has historically been a pretty safe bet.

Yeah, I can see not playing him over Ewers as a freshman. I get that. Hell, I could even see the case fkr maybe playing Ewers over him as a sophomore if you had serious offensive roster issues where you knew you'd basically be setting him uo for failure. But that's not the case at Texas. You're loaded with 4* and 5* talent.
