2026 Team Needs

1. Sign an affordable speed WR2. Someone who can consistently stretch the field.

2. Sign a free agent pass catching tight end. How much would Kyle Pitts cost? A good TE is a quarterback’s best friend and it seems that the top teams have a reliable TE. Dave Canales needs to make TE an important position in the offense.

3. Draft an inside linebacker in round 1.

4. Sign a veteran pass rusher, possibly draft one as well.

5. Draft a safety.

6. Cut Dalton and sign a decent backup quarterback. Keep Bryce Young on his toes all offseason. Light a fire under him.

1) Marquise Brown (Shaheed might be a bit too expensive)

2) Probably isn't happening - can't afford to waste cap there. Just gotta roll with our TEs we have or draft one. Maybe Darren Waller if he has anything left.

3) Probably gonna be out of range for Reese and Styles, so no to drafting ILB round 1 if they are gone. Would be great if Woods, Faulk, or Terrell fell. Possible we take an OT also if they drop, especially if we move on from BC and with Moton on his last legs with us.

4) Not sure we have the money to get a high end pass rusher in free agency and would rather not burn more money on underachieving edges like Wonnum. Keep developing Scourton & Princely and draft an edge (ideally 1st round unless BPA other position is better)

5) Sure, but it would have to be a day 3 draft pick IMO (unless a really good one drops like Starks last year). Little out of FSU is somebody that fits Evero's scheme well (if he is back with us). I like what I see on tape out of Wheatley from Penn St, but I think he will shoot up draft boards after the combine.

6) Dalton needs to be cut the day after our last game of football this year... Not a great free agent crop of backup/fringe starter QBs that won't break the bank, but Mariota, Tyrod, or Zach Wilson are worth a look or start looking at day 3 trades for other team's backups (still would like Winston for a 6th rounder or similar value)

The '26 draft class is loaded with upperclassmen QBs.  I would definitely take a flyer after the second round.  This is where you throw a dart blindfolded at a dartboard and hope you miraculously hit the bullseye.  At best stumble upon a Brock Purdy, at worst you waste a day two or three draft pick.  Somewhere in the middle the team finds their Andy Dalton of the future.

    • A team should do everything they can to prop up their investment in a QB regardless of who it is.
    • I am not wanting to be too judgemental of Morgan over his first draft given the circumstances.  People don’t like my rationale but you know, I don’t so much like theirs either.  I was adamantly against drafting Bryce and very resentful over the extreme (imo) measures taken to prop him up. I feel like Dan got caught in that trap with demands or conditions placed on him to help out the QB and the new Offensive minded head coach.  And my biased opinion is that it was still all Bryce centric. Micro managed and solely focused on making him a viable player after his first disastrous season. Mandated to help the offense in that draft.  I feel like my speculation is reasonable given the climate and situation, and it includes the reasons we didn’t take a C, the reasons we overdrafted a RB and that particular WR. It was totally need based. Perceived needs. All to maximize Bryce.    And if it were me, and I wanted the GM slot of my team that I came up with, I would be willing to accede to the agenda that I feel was in place. The goals he had to meet.  It is pretty simple, just put Bryce’s needs at the center of everything that was done and work your way through it.  I have no idea or inside info, and people have mocked my opinion for it but that is what it is, it still makes sense to me.
