The Coker thread

I could argue that they need a deep threat, (and you could argue that both are) but I agree. The only reason Coker is not a bigger name is because they tried to develop XL.  But Horn is coming along (too soon?) Tremayne had 15 receptions on 19 targets for 160 yards--bottom of the roster quality.   If you step back, there are bigger needs on this team, like edge and LB

Right and at some point we also have to expect this coaching staff to develop their young talent like other teams. I mean we aren't going to ever get over the hump without that.

We need to adapt the Cignetti method in drafting. PRODUCTION over POTENTIAL. Nobody loves a good project more than the Carolina Panthers! We should never draft a "project" before the 5th round or unless we already have productive talent at the position and can give them time to (hopefully) develop. All we can do is hope that Morgan and Co. have learned their lesson on that from the 1st draft and see what happens this year.

theyre different kinds of players but gun to my head i take Coker over tet if we’re being honest.

What sized font do you use when you admit that you were wrong?   (Seriously, there were a few of us pounding the drum for him and we have been.  Nothing Not to like about him.

Coker is an exclusive rights free agent. That means the Panthers can resign him for the league minimum and he has no choice but to take it or just sit out and refuse to play football.

I think he has earned the right to make a little $$. Should still be a cheap, easy sign, but trying to big dog him into league minimum is disrespectful from my POV.

I'm always the "give them a chance guy" but XL is about done. Coker needs to be the permanent #2 and we should still add another pass catcher this off-season.

I wonder what we could realistically get in trade (insert 1/2 a bag of chips joke here). He's a big guy with speed who's a good blocker. Athleticism and 5th year option could get us a 5th??? If someone offers a 5th, I'd jump all over it.

I also think on day 3 of the draft. a WR, RB, OL & DL guy should be on the big board. EVERY YEAR.

Of course he would sit out. It’s not worth risking an injury to play on the league minimum salary for him at this point in his career with the tape he’s put out.

they either extend him for something reasonable or trade him.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
