I’VE FOUND OUR WR3 (Rashid Shaheed)

The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition.

Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason.

Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency.

Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown.

He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents.

Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.

I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times.
Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.
Not every week but that happens.

As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there.

After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.

He's going to get paid. No way we can afford to sink that much into a WR with our defensive needs.

I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6

‘They’ say you lose a game for every rookie you start too.

Not too worried about the cap, I am not sure it means anything bad. They have had plenty of time to plan this out, at least pre Icky injury. Which is a monkey wrench in the works. The extension might have given them some room for this year. But they can still do a little with that maybe.

plus, we have Morgan saying he was going to attack some positions. We know what that means… $$$

Jerry Jones has realized that his days are numbered.  Supposedly, he is mortgaging the future for a ring today--he mentioned that he only has 1 ring, but that team was not one he built--(did not mention that part).  Desperation, ego, and wealth--a dangerous combination.  Lets see what he does.

I fully expect (and certainly hope) that he sh!ts the bed!
