Giannis

Zion would be an insane gamble from both a maturity standpoint and an availability standpoint. He has only played 17 more games than LaMelo since 2022.

I'd gamble, miles josh green and 2-3 firsts especially if we could trade both this years and 1 future

Zion is my favorite "budget" addition. Bothers me that he doesn't rebound like he should, but cost wise I'd rather gamble on him than what it would take to get Giannis who doesn't have history on his side with his age.

I'm still curious to see what GSW does. If they can't bring Curry help, I think it will reach the point where he asks to come here. At that point, all bets are off and I assume they'd ask for LaMelo. Big 3 team trade where we bring in Curry and another star while keeping Kon? I'd be tempted.

You can't trade melo for 38 year old curry unless they're giving picks. I'd give them miles josh green and white (provided we sign and trade) for Curry.

Would you include melo in a trade for Giannis?

Not personally, definitely not if we can't sign white long term. I don't know that I would want giannis as dumb as that sounds. He would stunt Kon and millers development. If those guys can grow into allstars then adding an aging superstar may not be best. I think if they could keep melo miller and kon I would trade for giannis assuming they'd have to make real noise in the next 2 years for it to make sense

Oh they're definitely giving more in this scenario. There's picks or they're helping facilitate another guy coming here.

I don't know what Curry would add here that would make a huge difference given how many 3's this team already attempts and our lack of points in the paint.

Wembanyama is basically a tall ass spaghetti noodle and he's dropping 39 points in playoff wins.

Hornets need to make a BIG move for a multi level shot creator.

I just can not agree with the high level of package that will be needed for him.

* I will say it does feel like 95% this team should make a trade. As everyone knows the 4-5 are the holes..... I do feel if you are able to get a certain type, you can keep the main band together. Plus frank could be the answer on the roster, he blocked up a storm. If frank got some long range shot for respect..... with the other 4 rotating like they did in the winning.

I feel bridges is the key to this, if you are able to flip him for a similar effect 4 or 5......do it.

The Hornets have six first round picks over the next three years. I'd have a hard time believing they couldn't put together a rather nice package without sacrificing the core 3 of Lamelo, Kon and Brandon. Honestly, as young as the team is, they really don't need or want to have that many selections in that time frame.

Imagine swapping out Miles (and bench players+draft picks) for Giannis OR some other blue chip veteran in the starting lineup.

Now, the downside obviously is Giannis' age and health. It doesn't have to be Giannis specifically, but this team desperately needs a blue chip veteran to go with all the young talent.

    • He is a great guy but a horrible reporter. He makes my skin crawl when I hear his name. I heard that babies cry and dogs attack him when he enters a room. Other than that he is a good dude. Now go burn in hades u sum bit.
    • The job just really passed him by. He came up when basically you just needed to get three or four quotes, toss a couple of team provided stats in there, and stretch it out to column length. you got your copy in by 330, out the door by 4, then chill/shmooze the rest of the day. If you were really good you got a book deal. Every now and then you got to write an editorial. The goal of the profession was like Peter King where ostensibly you’re a beat writer for whomever but you get paid to just shoot the poo. now it’s a 24 hour job, you’ve gotta be social media savvy, the pace has increased substantially, you’re expected to produce more than ever, you gotta be able to look through bullshit etc. there’s still risk of industry capture where you just become a mouth piece. Sheena Quick is obviously shameless. I don’t think Newton ever aspired to be more than an inoffensive beat writer, but even that relatively simple role was just more than he was cut out for. its even worse when you’re covering a team that expects the Fourth Estate to act as a PR extension, or considers them on par with buying Twitter bots to promote Bryce. there were over thirty papers that covered the panthers first training camp. In that environment there’s room for boring guys like newton, and they may even be incentivized to push the boundary a little. But today that just isn’t the case and most of the guys are hanging on until retirement (person, gantt) or they’re good and gonna be matched up like Jordan. im not defending the current state of sports journalism, just saying that what counts as a meat and potatoes beat writer passed newton by. He’s retiring well past his sell by date, but that’s pretty common for his generation in general.
