Dan Morgan Pre-Draft press conference

Recommended Posts

4 biggest hints Panthers GM Dan Morgan dropped about the 19th pick in his pre-draft presser

Second-guessing the favorite?

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq has felt like the odds-on favorite at that 19th overall selection for quite some time. But Morgan made some intriguing comments on the current state of the team's tight end room that may have us second-guessing this potential pairing.

"I think we have some guys on our roster that are big targets," Morgan said. "In general, we have guys in our tight end room that we feel are good players and guys that have the skill set to be able to do that.

"Whether it's opportunity or whether guys are still developing, I think we have the pieces in that room to be able to do that."

Tommy Tremble led all Panthers tight ends with 249 receiving yards in 2025.

Carolina has not had a tight end record at least 500 receiving yards since 2019.

- Character matters. A LOT. If a guy has character concerns of any kind, you can be pretty confident they aren't on our board. They may bring in a guy or two for a visit to gauge the validity/severity of the concern though.

How far is Ruben Bain going to fall?

Quote

One of the passengers in Bain's car was Destiny Betts, 22, a college student from Georgia. She sustained "incapacitating'' injuries and was in a coma until she died on 13 June 2024.

The site notes that the police report cites Bain for having "operated his vehicle in a careless or negligent manner."

A copy of the police report indicates that a sobriety test was not administered at the scene.

Yikes!

Ha I know right.  It makes since for them to ride out his option years and see if he can take another step forward. If not our next QB steps into a good  situation. If you look at Drew Bree's' stats his first 3 seasons in San Diego they're pretty similar to Bryce's and those offenses had a lot of talent. Best case is he takes that same kind of leap now. I don't know if he's got that in him but we're about to find out for sure

It made sense for them to start planning for the future after year 2. We're now in year 4 and apparently committing to him for year 5. Baffling.

honestly this doesn't bug me at all, but one time of life was fast driving too.....then traffic took over and my age started to take my "plums"......

His short arms, that's will cause him to fall even with his great tape. If by some chance, he fell to panthers 100% Dan would draft him. He's spoke glowingly and said no chance.

I mean if get truthful background checks on every player, draft would be short.....

It scares me that the wreck occurred at 4:00 a.m. and no sobriety test at the scene. A big fat lawsuit is coming when he signs his rookie deal.

It’s frustrating how poor the coverage of the Panthers has been—too many missed opportunities, with local media asking surface-level questions instead of anything meaningful

How about asking:

Dan, are you planning to use all 30 of your allotted prospect visits? Do you anticipate filling the position previously held by Dom Capers, and have there been any recent coaching hires? Are you still considering bringing back Brady Christensen or Demari Mathis? And as the draft approaches, what will the next nine days look like for your organization?

They are busy with mock drafts 😆

He said they want playmakers like 4 times.

I'd have to take a guess and say some of the DBs (Thieneman, McNeil-Warren, Terrell) and WRs (Cooper, Conception, Tyson) are near the top of our board.

Had ZERO hesitation to Newton's question about the 3-in-a-row R1 receiver route.

My guess is that Cooper could be our guy.. we'll see.

Basically Thienemen is the top of their board is what i gathered from the presser. Their dream would be R1: Dillon Thienemen R2: Caleb Banks if he falls.

They would have to move up ahead of the Vikings to get Thieneman. I don't think they'd do it.

I do believe they are genuinely open to taking a WR if one they like is available but its not hard to script responses either.

If anything that could be seen as forced.

It will be fun.

    • When you look closely at the play it was careless from Melo but bang bang full speed I don’t think it was intentional or dirty or deserving of a foul. Bam’s off balance momentum was already carrying him towards a fall and even if Melo didn’t touch him it may have had the exact same outcome. And honestly I think he did try to sell it more when he felt LaMelo’s hand. Dudes arms flopped back instead of bracing for the fall. Sucks he got hurt but a suspension would be ridiculous and an awful look for the league. Fine and move on
    • Sure but it literally would be benching him lol, and it would kill his confidence. He’ll get back in a rhythm, kid just had an all time great rookie season and led the league in 3s, you gotta stick with him as starter. But yeah I’m all for getting some more lineups throughout the game with Coby and Melo   and yeah Miles’ block and Coby and others jumping him in celebration was fuging epic
    • I would’ve used the timeout on that inbounds before the turnover and Melo’s late foul but yeah otherwise I can’t blame Lee, the players just didn’t execute as well as they should have, but obviously did enough to get it done
