How Will the Lawrence Trade Influence the Draft???

Recommended Posts

Giants already kicked off the chaos with the Dexter Lawrence trade.  They need alot of help.  I dont see them staying put with both picks.  I can see them using 1 to trade down a few times to collect more picks.

Styles and downs makes too much sense but it's the Giants

They will do something like draft Tyson at 5 and then take Downs at 10. Styles won't be there at 10....hell, he might not be there at 5.

This was a really dumb trade by the Bengals. Lawrence is knocking the door of 30 and is coming off of a very down year. When you're closing in on 30 it's fair to wonder if it was a down year or are the wheels falling off? Huge explosive guys often age like dairy products (Kris Jenkins comes to mind). Meanwhile, their OL is still a disaster and Burrow is getting the hell beat out of him every year and is already starting to openly talk about potentially retiring. Given their massive investment in him and WRs, I would've gone all in on OL this offseason. They had a decent chance to have their pick of the OL litter with that pick. If he's not washed, Lawrence should help their anemic defense, but it won't help their superstar QB from rising off into the sunset because he's tired of getting beat to hell every Sunday and that would've been my priority.

This tells me that they are going all in the next 2 years for a SB and if that fails they will be moving all their stars

Mirror the Goff/Stafford trade...Bryce, two 1sts, filler.

Burrow 2027, make it happen.

Word is that Lawrence showed up and weighed in at nearly 400 pounds for his Bengals medical check. I'd find a reason to fail him. Blood type tested as bacon grease. Fail.

We've all seen what happens when a dominant huge, explosive DT can't manage his weight. You're gonna age like milk. Looking like Kris Jenkins 2.0.

People are reacting to a single photo where he looks like a nose tackle.

He passed the physical.

Never saw a picture. Saw “almost 400 lbs”.

That will hoist a flag or two.

Thats people reacting to a photo where he looks like a NT like I said. People reacting online is not a valid indicator of anything.

They actually did a physical and passed him. That means more than "word is that".

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
