Again...

Hurney "QB is our biggest need"

Rivera "We will draft according to need"

Newton has a private meeting with JR

Shouldn't be a surprise if we draft him.

New coaches generally want "there" guys as well I don't see how it would be a huge surprise if he's the pick either.

I think one bad day at the combine doesn't mean a quarterback is horrible or is a five year project. Cam's proday is the 6th or the 7th(not sure). I'm holding off til i see him throw to guys he's more comfortable with before ruling him out.

On a diffrent note i think we all agree that pat peterson should be on our radar a real possiblity.

He somewhat surprised me.

He said, in his opinion, that Cam Newton would go #1, however if they traded the pick, it would be because someone else wanted Cam badly, I.e "Washington".

#1 to Washington for McNabb, #10, and #42

In his mind, he said these are the two most likely scenarios. From, "guys that lose their jobs if they make bad picks", they say that Nick Fairley will not be the Panthers pick a #1, more likely that it is Dareus, but if it probably wouldnt be at #1.

Also, he thought that PP7 is not likely at #1 because Corners dont go @1 and even Deion went #5.

Made no mention of Gabbert.

To sum, if we pick someone at #1, its going to be Cam, but if we trade, all bets are off and anyone is possible.

Got a link?

A trade for McNabb is never going to happen.

His contract is waaaaaaay too much money. He will be cut, no doubt about it.

I am thinking #10 and a first next year for the 2011 #1 and a 2012 3rd

10 to 1 is a big jump

Cam Newton makes perfect sense. Sure, he's not ready, and he's a gamble. But he's got so much upside that he's worth the risk. And the Panthers aren't a typical first overall pick type of team. We had a complete meltdown on offense last year, a lame duck coaching staff that was ineffective, too many rookies, and a ton of injuries.

The Panthers have a lot of talent. They have a new coaching staff that will work hard to build a team that wins year after year. They're going to have a honeymoon next year, in part because the staff is new and in part because it's hard to be worse than 2-14. So there's time to develop Newton. And once they do, he'll be playing with young talent almost across the board.

The Panthers have a young QB already in Clausen. A ton of you already think he's a failure, but that's far from settled. You get Newton in hear, and if either one works out then they're going to be very good. If Newton works out they could be great. And if both work out, then you have a great QB and a good piece of trade bait.

True Stat....Cyberjag told me at a tailgate that "Clausen will develop into a Peyton Manning like QB." From that I can only come to the conclusion that he favors Clausen.;)

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
