Several teams at top of draft seem interested in Cam

From the ESPN3.com footage, Whisenhunt shook his hand after the workout, and Tennessee asked to see a few extra passes.

Could mean absolutely nothing, but both want a QB. Throw them in with Buffalo (rumored to like Newton) and Cincinnati (Lewis was in attendance) and that makes 4 teams in the top 8 picks who couild be interested and might make a trade offer.

All it takes is 1. I would love to know what Elway Fox had to say about it. They were there and seemed interested. Fairley I am sure.

By the way, Fairley looked awefully good.

Do you believe that to be true if if it generated our interest as well and we take him instead of trade?? :)

I trust the braintrust to do the right thing. From what I know now, after his performance today, the only way I would take him is if we traded down and he fell. I feel he was pressing a little, in fairness. Lotta eyes on him as well as pressure. If I am the GM, the red flags did not go away.

I love how Cam haters are so happy that other teams are looking at him but will not admit we are as well.

Why would we not admit it? We are interested in him. But we have openly said that we are looking at 8 or so players. Why do the nut-huggers think its Cam or fold the tent?

But you expect other teams to give up future draft picks to get him?? We are just as desperate for a QB as anybody else and you don't want him at no extra cost, yet you expect these teams to trade up. Doesn't make sense.

I thought he threw a couple curls and then it ended? What routes did we ask for?

I am pretty sure he threw 4 passes. Some curls and some deep posts maybe. He definitely threw 4 extra passes. I can't remember what the other routes were off the top of my head.

I guess its good to know that some NFL teams realize you need a good QB to be competitive. Maybe we can trade the pick to AZ pick up a LB or DT that will hopefully be on our roster long enough to wear a Panthers hat while sitting in the stands at the next AZ superbowl appearance. That would be sweet. /endrant

Im not sold on Any QB in this draft but I'm absolutely sick of almost 20 years of mediocrity from other teams scraps at the QB position. This may be (hopefully) the last time we draft first for another 20 years or so. Time to take a shot at a true franchise qb.

Meh, Im just frustrated after years of good defense and crap offence.

    • I think DJ will always catch some heat because he will never be an elite WR, despite having elite attributes. I remember that when he was here. We all saw Steve Smith play for years, so we know what a truly elite WR looks like. DJ was never that. Now, is he a very, very good WR? Yes. Is he one of the best 15-20 WR's in the NFL year in and year out? I would say yes, as well. But he will always get some doubters because he is the tier below the truly elite WR's. I do agree, though. Would love to still have it. Would love to have reversed that trade immediately. Especially with the benefit of hindsight the way we have now. It's way more painful from that view.
    • No, he never threw 8 tds in a game.  I feel like we're splitting hairs and are describing the exact same situation, but you're looking through the lens of recency bias.  Either way, the original point remains the same.  CJ Stroud is still far better than Bryce Young.
    • You mean the 4 INT game in 2004? That's cool but he threw 8 TD's in the game prior. Also, I definitely never saw him looking like Stroud did. Anyone who watched those two games knows how incredibly lucky Stroud was to have only 8 TO's. I never saw Peyton Manning in a single game just panic and throw up prayers to no one. Not a couple of times but repeatedly. That was basically a worse version of Sam Darnold seeing ghosts.
