Predictions on 09

Okay instead of reading/thinking about Peppers/Gross I thought I would make a predicition thread for next year. I know people are thinking why is this guy making predictions of the 09 season and were only half-way through February but its just to take our minds off of pep/gross, cuts and etc.

Here we go:

1. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will both have fewer yards and both will average fewer yards per carry than they did this year.

2. The offense will be more balanced as Jake will bounce back with a 3500+ yard campaign along with 20+ touchdowns. His INT's will still be in double figures though.

3. Jake will have 4 4th Quarter combacks

4. The Defense will have 3 INT's returned for touchdowns.

5. John Fox will guide the team to back-to-back playoff seasons, first time in his tenure. The Panthers will finish 7-1 at home, but struggle on the road, going 3-5 leading to a 10-6 record and the 5th seed in the NFL playoffs. The saints will win the Division.

6. The Falcons, Ravens and Dolphins will NOT make the playoffs

7. Detroit will win at least 4 games.

8. The Cowboys will win a playoff game.

9. Playoff teams next year:

NFC: Cowboys, Gaints, Vikings, Seahawks, Saints, Panthers.

AFC: Patriots, Colts, Texans, Steelers, Chargers, Titians

Just some predictions on what I think will happen in the NFL next year. Needed to do something to take my mind off of the offseason. Feel free to post some of your own.

Steve Smith will stay out of trouble and actually achieve a 2000yd season like he has wanted to.

Jake will have a better year.

The Oline will have a full year and another full TC as a unit- good things

DeAngelo will break the records he set this year and will be the best RB we've ever had EVER.

Peppers stays ;) and the D comes to life under new DC Meeks.

I don't see anything here too outrageous, although I think Smitty getting his 2,000 yard season could be why D-Will gets fewer yards.

One place I will contradict you though is to go out on a limb and say that the 49ers (yes, THE San Francisco 49ers) will win the NFC West, and we will beat them in a playoff game.

BOOM. There you have it.

San Francisco wins the NFC West behind Gore. Titans don't make the playoffs with tough Texans and Colts teams. Adrian Peterson dominates the league and wins MVP. Dwill has a good year again but other players have down years ie Stewart, Jake, King/Rosario, # 2 WR. We make the playoffs but are on the road in the wildcard weekend. Falcons do NOT make the playoffs and Ryan and Turner don't look half as good as they did last year. Bengals contend for a playoff spot and last but not least...Michael Vick is the starting QB for a team fighting for a playoff spot (Bears or Vikings)

Smitty gets 1700+ and finally back into double digit TD receptions with 14.

DWill has another 1500 yd campaign with 16 TD's

Stewart gets to the 1100 yd mark with 8 TD's

Jake Throws for 3400 YD's 22 TD's and 12 INT's.

Defense is ranked in the top 10 again (wishful thinking)

Panthers go 10-6, Falcons win the division. With same record.

    • I hate seeing this. I'm not sure he was ever going to make it in the NFL without the injury but that injury knocked FSU out of the college football playoffs and cost him and them and opportunity on the biggest stage in college sports. The injuries are the worst part of this game.
    • I don't know what Texas A&M was doing with their edge rushers. They had two freaks in Scourton and Shemar Stewart and yet instead of turning them loose they asked them to play 20 lbs overweight and just set the edge. That's full-on coaching malpractice at any level. Much was made about Shemar Stewart's lack of sack production, but while he wasn't my favorite prospect this year a lot of that was clearly what they were asking him to do. The good news with Scourton is that, unlike Stewart, did manage to be a huge factor as a pass rusher despite this and despite playing 20 lbs overweight. If he can stay around 260-265 it should help him re-gain some of that explosiveness from his Purdue days.
    • I did, but again we're aware of the practice in college of inflating height/weight as well as what is considered normal and his freshman weight tells a lot. There was a recent Raw Room episode where at one point they were discussing putting on their "big boy weight" when they go to the pros. It's common for guys to have to slap on 20lbs over the summer, but King Dunlap mentioned having to put on 30 and how much of a toll that took on his body. That makes the idea of putting on 50 at the college level even harder to believe. I've got experience with cutting weight and that type of drop sounds just awful... and that's even if doing it healthy and not just turning yourself into a piece of human jerky. Having to add 50? Noooooo thank yoooou. I can understand wanting to take Scourton at face value, but we didn't take Bryce at face value either (and for good reason!). Give the recently posted videos a shot. I watched the one you linked even though I've already seen it, so why not extend the same courtesy? I think you'll find yourself getting more excited about his Purdue tape than you will being irritated by what you believe are false narratives being pushed. 😄
