Mallett Workout Tuesday

Ugh :(

Hate to tell you guys, but it's not a smokescreen. They're genuinely checking him out, and yes, he's likely in the discussion for the number one pick.

Smokescreens don't happen until you have a solid idea of who you want, and pretty much nobody with any insight believes the Panthers have made that decision yet.

(too early in the process)

I know you seem to be a knowledgable person on the board, but is this actually coming from insider info? Or a hunch?

TO and 85 have the attitude of "give me the damn ball"

he is the same kind of kid and his endorsements will suffer if he is "managing" a game

He wants to be the "ICON" Make no mistake.

That is just the attitude part. He is also about the 20th best player in the draft and we be a mega reach to draft the guy.

And by the way, the only reason you want him is because his hype machine is working.

You can not be in favor of Cam because you think he is not good enough, etc BUT to say he has the attitude of TO and Ocho Cinco has no merit. He does not portray that imaga at all, even in and with the media - plus every report about the kid is how kind, friendly, engaging, vibrant, etc young man he is.

I doubt he's being considered for the #1 pick, trading down yes, #1 no.

It's more just knowing how Marty Hurney works and paying attention.

With that said, I wouldn't get too excited about anything they say about Mallett or any other prospect. They'll be positive about everyone.

Don't assume that just because the draft experts and fans on here think he isn't worth the number one that the Panthers don't.

NFL teams do their own scouting and player ranking. They don't care what draft experts think.

Would I pick him at number one? No, but that doesn't mean the Panthers wouldn't.

It isn't for the number one pick. This might be a situation where we trade back to around 10 with Washington or even more likely if we still pick #1 and then trade back into the first round to try to pick him up if he is still around late.

I have had Mallett #2 QB this whole time and I am not coming off of it even though "experts" keep talking up Gabbert.

Not one QB in this draft is a Sam Bradford

None of them can start. All of them have issues to overcome and need every OTA available. With that not happening, all of them might slip a bit in the draft

Funny you should say that. Last year a lot of experts didn't think Sam Bradford was "a Sam Bradford".

And you base this opinion on...lemme guess, draft expert opinions?

The team has its own scouting department. They don't care what Kiper, Mayock or anyone else says.

They could very easily be considering Mallett for the #1. We wouldn't know.

You can't definitively judge what the Panthers will do based on outside sources.

I wouldn't pick him number one either, but then I also wouldn't have wanted Chuck Wiley and Mitch Marrow over Leonard Little. The Panthers did.

I based it on common fugging sense.

mallett has scary scary off the field issues. then again, I've been assured other potential #1 picks off the field issues are non-issues. so it's possible Mallett's are too. if that is the case, you never know. he's an amazing passer. but I don't know how good a quarterback he would be. I would rather go defense but hey, I'll go with whatever the team decides and be happy.
