Carolina Panthers employees have a “sense of optimism”...

Per PFT:

Barring any illegal contact, however, the Panthers are being rather lockout friendly to their employees. No layoffs or furloughs are planned and there’s a “sense of optimism” among employees things will remain business as usual until the Fall.

It goes on to say that one of the big reasons why Jerry slashed the team's payroll in 2010 was so that he could protect the front office/stadium employees this year. And that the new coaches didn't have the 'lockout clauses' that other teams have been implementing.

IMO this sounds a lot more like JR than the whole 'Jerry gave us a sh*tty product so he could line his own pockets with cash' theory.

well what did you expect, hire a brand new staff and then lay them off until september? I'm sure being paid throughout the lockout was part of their contracts.

It has been widely reported that almost every coach hired since 2008, excluding big names such as Carroll or Shanahan, have had clauses in their contracts allowing them to be laid off or have their pay cut by as much as 75% in the event of a lockout.

I didn't know we just hired all new front office personnel and stadium employees.

At this point the team has lost no revenue so why would they furlough or lockout employees. It is March. The whole premise is stupid. PSL invoices have not even gone out yet and many of these employees are needed for daily operations which continue since there will be football.

If as some folks believe, this will be resolved in a few weeks or even a month, keeping your employees working who you need for the season makes good business sense. If this lockout goes for several months then lets see how magnanimous Jerry and everyone else is at that point. Until that point, he is really not doing that much.

    • I didn't say I thought throwing it was a bad decision, I said I thought not running those 3-5 yard routes to pick up the 1st down wasn't a great call.  Yes the play worked out, but I didn't love the play call, it's like when a bad shooter is taking a 3 and you're yelling "no no no" as they're going up and then they make it so it worked out. That's still gambling on them to make the play and I take no issue with that. But I just went and watched the play again, we had T-Mac and XL running downfield crossing routes, Coker went in motion behind the LOS and then moved up a yard or two after the snap but not even past the LOS, Sanders chipped the DE and then ran a drag route right long the LOS. The play worked out, but I don't really like that particular play call and route tree with the game on the line on a 4th and 2.  If you want to send one route downfield as an option that's fine, but there were only 2 realistic target options with that route tree and they were both 15-20 yards downfield.
    • If BY comes back, they 100% need to bring in legit competition.    Heres what as you are alluding too. This team can either sign Icky&Mays or BY, I do not see both without cuts/trades/etc. My vote is for Icky&Mays, draft a QB....
    • JB shouldn’t even be a thought IMO.  Bonus if he ever matters for us.
