Sean Payton on The Jimmy

CRA

Recommended Posts

Yet, Jimmy came within a few seconds of beating their ass in the Dome last year.

Jimmy did nothing in that game. Saints gave up a joke of a play. Jimmy posed no threat and we saw that the last drive (he couldn't even handle basic clock management).

Everyone bashes DeAngelo but DeAngelo was doing the only thing Carolina could do....try to make something happen b/c we weren't going to get it from the QB.

Meh, I don't hate him for it. Make of that what you will.

Fair enough, I'm not a big fan either but I don't like outsiders talking smack about anyone in a Panthers uniform... especially outsiders in our division.

On the other hand, I'm not really sure what Payton said about Jimmy? I interpreted it as more of a compliment to Jake than a knock against Jimmy.

I rarely read links like that and I didn't read this one so maybe if I did I would have more of an opinion

it was a week 17 game he was dwelling on. Clausen had been driving this ship for awhile (and was the QB for the overwhelming majority of the year).

I think Peyton would have thought Moore gave us a puncher's chance.

He didn't say anything about anyone in particular. I understand that Pickles was currently our starting QB, but we didn't have any viable option for a starting QB. That's how I interpret Peyton's comments...that we didn't have anyone who was currently suited to be under center running our offense. Which was true.

you don't have to like any of the players to love the team...it helps but its not necessary.

btw, likable guys aren't generally the best football players IMO.

softy Charlotte needs some rude-ass monsters, not baby killers or drug dealers but some rude mofos who inflict pain first, win second, and make friends third....maybe

what's all the fuss about? he didn't say anything that wasn't untrue...

We kind of sucked something fierce last year guys.

yep.

In all honesty, if I had to name 1 player in the NFL last year that I was definately worse than Clausen.......not sure I could come up with one. Not one that saw the field in more than 3 games.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
