Charley Casserly

He got fired for drafting and ruining a young QB he picked first overall because he was too incompetent to put an OL together.

Makes sense to me.

Who's this? Carr? He got fired for drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush :/

I like him though. He got fired for all the wrong reasons. It's ok to be negative man, you only have one pick in the first round. Plus, I've only really heard him talk crap about the QB's, who are all projects.

He didn't get fired, he retired. Announced well in advance of his last draft. A draft that netted 3 probowlers for the Texans I believe.

If I took over a team right now I would talk to him first about being a GM and or coming on as a consultant.

How many times did Texas have a winning record under his tenure or make the playoffs? 0

He retired because he was under tremendous pressure because he couldn't produce a winner. 19-57 while he was GM at Houston from 2000-2006.

How well have they done since him?? 32-37 with 1 winning season. Not great but surely better since Smith took over.

Overall I think Casserly is a smart guy, but he did draft David Carr and Heath Schuler so I'm not sure how much advice I'd take from him when it comes to drafting QB's.

He didn't want Schuler, Casserly wanted Dilfer. Norv wanted Schuler.

Norv won out and Charlie soon left the Redskins.

Somehow wanting Dilfer doesn't exactly strengthen the argument.

Not the best QB in the world but, Dilfer played over ten years in the NFL and helped win a superbowl. The Skins were going to draft a QB that year, no other position was an option. Charlie had it right between the two.

    • lmao that's a good point; but at the same time I think and HOPE Canales learned from how he operated last year, only giving us one real look against the Bills that had people shouting 'Super Bowl'...only to come out flat.
    • I mean the whole defense was trash, he was at least trying. Besides if you put a all-pro among 10 PSers, that all-world will look human. It's very hard to judge very bad units and find the best players among them. Horn and Mjack played well too, there was 0 pass rush and -1777784 run defense.
    • I was looking back and seen Evan Neal has made the switch to OG after awful years at OT.......I wanted him over Icky for his tricep alone..... I was 100% stroud too, I was super pissed about his record setting and playoff leading start......I had arich vastly over the midget BY too. But right now, BY is about the only one on the up&up. The Texans used lots of prime draft capital to help Stroud.  It's still not ready. But if you're honestly about past drafts, these GMs are not alone in making mistakes.  I still feel they should stayed put and allowed Carter to fall in their lap, but best I know Tepper had the worst rage about landing a QB for the past 5 years. The deal is with the correct coaching staff, Baker or darnold would still be here....Baker has signed 3 years for 100 million, which is a great NFL QB contract. Tepper hiring rhule and his shitty Baylor/temple staff was a massive setback given rhule was in control too. Then panic set in an d fitteerererererer had to make a winner and find a QB. Ugh.....I hope they are back...
