Who says it's Mallet and not Fairly, as far as I know Gantt said he's completely fallen off of our board.

Usually the player that the team is hush about is the one they really like. If we stay at #1, I doubt it'll be Fairley, but if we slide a few spots in a trade and he's still there, my bet is it WILL be Fairley.

we had a lot of people at Quinn's pro day but apparently we did not talk to him at all which is interesting.

Rivera spent a ton of time talking to Fairley. Very possible he has slid off but he spent as much time talking to him as Newton. Must have seen something they didn't like...

rivera's been to amukumara's pro day but there is no way we take him #1 overall I don't think.

Quinn even came out and said yesterday that we were not interested in him. At least that is what came across twitter from the news guys yesterday.

I think that this acutally makes sense. With our needs at DT, QB, WR, CB....I would see absolutely no way that the #1 pick would possibly be used on a DE. We are pretty solid there with Johnson, hardy, etc

I think the number is closer to 5 but hurney is being cautious...newton, gabbert, dareus, petersen, and maybe green. With four weeks to go, the rest of the draft to prepare for, and nobody picking ahead of them I would hope the list is much shorter.

I think you are all over it here. I also think Green is conditional (Steve Smith trade scenario)

However, by saying you have a list of 5-7, are you not telling Denver-SanFrancisco you might consider a trade offer?

If Hurney agrees to go on the radio to discuss the draft, then believe that he has an agenda. It was not a Public Service announcement.

Remember, there is a high-stakes poker game going on here. We could easily be interested in a QB, but we could be making others think we might take their player if they don't deal with us. In other words, "If you wait for Cam or Gabbert to drop, they are not because we are taking a QB, however, we like 5-7 players, so we would probably trade down with a decent offer."

Listening to what Hurney says it does seem like hes leaning towards QB

It's a mistake to think you can be certain of where we're going from a radio interview.

We definitely could be leaning that way, but keep in mind this is all still a very high stakes poker game. Taking things automatically at face value is a mistake.

LMAO. But Scot worked so hard on behalf of Narwocki. He will be so dissapointed. LOL.

Why? I said that the Panthers personnel people don't (and shouldn't) listen to what media types have to say because they gather their own info. Why would that disappoint me?

On the flipside, do you honestly think Hurney would say anything bad about Newton in this format? He could know privately that Newton tortures puppies as a hobby and he's not gonna say it here while the pick is still in play.

Just like you, taking the least important part of a statement and asking for clarity. Neither were "late" but neither were top picks, but both were in ideal situations to succeed.
The guy said LATE round developmental picks...I asked for clarification.

I thought he meant they were 5th or 6th rounders.

I don't think he would say one bad word about Cam Newton. But if there were any truth to what Narwocki said Hurney would have simply said "we aren't going to discuss the private information we have gathered in our research". Much like Rivera did at the owners meeting.

Instead Hurney was adimant that he had heard none of those things and even went so far as to question Nawrocki's sources. That is different from simple posturing.

I have never been more pissed off about a 1st round pick than I was when Hurney traded back to draft Jon Beason. This kid is a 2nd round player at best and probably a 3rd rounder. And then we draft a center too? The only pick I liked that year was Dewayne Jarrett.

I've learned my lesson. Come draft day, I'll trust Hurney. Not mine or any other fan's opinions.

well, since you weren't sure, i just told you they were first rounders. I easily got what he meant.

I also knew that. I thought he might have been confused and rather than being an ass about it I asked for clarification. Glad you got what he meant. It's a lot different coming in 5 hours after a discussion and filtering information.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
