Says you- most guys have him as the best QB in the draft and the highly respected Steve Mariucci loves him. I'll take their opinions over yours.

Are you still sticking with Mariucci's high opinion of Gabbert? It's hard to tell in some of the other new threads.

Interesting on the last line of Newton. "Could foreclose a risk taking GMs job/taint a locker room"

Yeah, that sounds like a guy Hurney/Richardson would be interested in.

We're not going to draft Newton guys. Sorry.

Hey. Are you going to be okay with Cam Newton stealing your name??

Hey if they draft that fuger, I have no choice but to hope (and pray) that Newton is indeed datdeal. Please, please, please prove myself and all the other "haters" or "closent 'necks" wrong.

If we draft this guy and he sucks or gets into trouble, it will set our club back 3-4 years.

Clausen isn't the answer either. But he does deserve one more year to be fair.

I can very well see Gabbert playing well. Maybe not Aaron Rodgers level but well. But all the clips and the 2 games I saw, he didn't look good. Especially with pressure. I don't think that's teachable tbh. It seems like some QB's handle pressure some don't. .

Merill Hodge and several other analysts on NFL Live talked about Gabbert's inability in the pocket to 'sense' pressure vs. 'see' pressure and how that is really not teachable and to Hodge and the other panelists, that was of great concern.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
