NFL Exec.: Cam Would Be Clear-Cut #1, If He Were White (And Other Valuable Nuggets)

The whole racial bias discussion is very funny to me.

One side is convinced racial bias is every bit as strong now as it was 30 years ago..

The other side is convinced it doesn't exist.

And they are both right. I tried to dig through some old notes i had when Scot posted his "Race" quiz, but couldnt find anything. What i wanted to post is some real racial bias quizes that have been studied for a while now by many large well known universities, and you can be quite shocked by the results if you are willing to be honest with yourself.

The thing with the racial bias today isn't that it doesn't exist, and more often that it has shifted from a conscious mental activity to a subconscious one.

So just because you feel like you have no racial bias doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

So you have the scouts and talent evaluators who would say on their deathbed that they are not ripping someone like Cam because he is black, because that isn't intentionally what they are doing, but in fact him being black can heavily influence their evaluation and is why they assume he would be a bust and someone like gabbert gets the benefit of the doubt.

My own belief is this grey area is where most "racism" exists today

If he were white he wouldn't be in the top 8. He'd be just another The Golden Calf of Bristol project.

lol, The Golden Calf of Bristol is basically a NFL FB playing QB. He isn't comparable to Cam.

Yup, Cam is just a The Golden Calf of Bristol with character concerns. Shouldn't even be first round, but this draft kind of sucks. Where he lands will depend on how big a gambler the team that picks him is. High risk high reward in every sense of the phrase. If we pick him up I will be expecting and hoping for the best. If not, I hope he goes to the cowboys or redskins and fails miserably.

What is it to assume that every source who's said something bad about him to journalists and analysts is white?

Since I don't know the answer here is my question? How many NFL execs are black?? How about GMs, or even directors of scouting??

Is Gregory white or black?? Can't find a picture of him.

I would assume most of the people anyone will talk to higher up the ladder are white. But I don't follow things based on race so I could be way off.

    • Dude you're all over the place. Bryce definitely played better than average down the stretch last year. That's what I said. I dont think it's controversial, and I think it's true based both on stats and by actually watching him play. He was the 6th rated passer by PFF during the last 8 weeks. In no world is that below average You trying to twist this into something else is a you thing.  Have a great night
    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
