prediction of social media bubble collapse?

2-3 more years for people to really saturate the market, and then pull the rug out from under them..

it's not just SEO type things.. video (youtube) type marketers have skyrocketed.. graphics designers a close 2nd..

it's hard for me to take them seriously because you can tell for the 1st time they are thinking outside of the typical "employee mentality"..

I'm amazed how much consultants get to give their crappy opinion. I know some people analyze company networks, long distance, and data centers and get a % on the efficiencies they help implement. Save a million take home 100k. Lots of waste out there...

The vast majority of them are scumbags IMO.

Edit: Didn't see your second post. You're absolutely right about them being on the take.

if i do consulting for a company or small biz, it's for free and whatever they save, i leave it up to them to pay a % of the savings. thats just being smart.

but my anchor job is giving treasury solutions for mega giant bank. thats a solid pay every 2 wks.

i have friends that have small biz's. sometimes they get stuck creatively or running their biz is getting in the way of running their biz and they may ask for some input. i just take a practical look at some stuff and throw my 2 cents in. some have paid me and some haven't. no big deal. many times i just get free stuff from them from food, car stuff, audio, home whatev.

I started my own company 9 months ago and haven't lost money yet although I may next year. Meaning i pay myself a salary.

I provide opinions and nothing tangible.

If you have any questions let me know but I am in a specialized niche market so it may not translate...

Hey, are you that Pimm mixer guy at Heathrow?

I still owe you for that last free bottle you gave me....:D

Own a hotel, with the economy and all things haven't looked so good. Hired new staff with a new general manager and things are looking up. The bank that owned 50% of the mortgage on the hotel folded and the other 50% that was owned by another bank bought it on 38 cents on the dollar and refinanced it to us at that price so we got extremely lucky.

Yep, Del is right.

From the people I talk to, bars and restaurants are a money and time pit. Labor of love type of stuff.

I own my own business, but calling what I do a business makes people squeemish.

I'm not supposed to care about the money.

lol

the research I've done says a bar would do ok in the areas I'm looking at, but specifically if they had a liquor store attached and a VLT license is a huge plus too. In Canada remember, you can't buy booze at 7-11!

maybe I should already know this, but I don't, so sue me!

any of you own and operate your own business?

If so, would you care to share what it is and if it's profitable?

It's something I've often thought of doing myself, either a resort type thing or a sports bar/restaurant type thing.

My biggest problem is I have a pretty good job, even though I don't enjoy it at all anymore, but the money, benefits, security etc etc is all really good. I'm chicken to walk away.

I've worked in restaurants and for the owner and managers it was ball busting amounts of work. In early mornings and on the weekends doing the books, ordering food, then working all nights.

I know a guy who ran a bar for awhile and he put it best "you can make money running a bar, or you can have fun. You can't do both" :)

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
