Anybody looking for a house?

Smitty's is still on the market (link)

Smith, who is under contract through 2012, has not publicly demanded a trade. But he clearly was unhappy last year – his worst from a statistical standpoint in a season when he was healthy.

According to MLS listings, Smith's 10,700-square foot home has been reduced from $2.9 million to $2.3 million.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera certainly has made no guarantees that Smith will be back. Rivera met with Smith before the lockout and told him: “We've got to go through this process and then we'll go from there.”

Smith's uncertain situation could affect how the Panthers approach the draft.

Some have pointed to the Panthers' visit with Georgia WR A.J. Green as a smokescreen to cover their interest in Cam Newton.

But the Panthers could be looking at Green – not with the top pick, but a slightly lower one if they convince a team to trade up – as a replacement for Smith. Assuming a labor deal is struck, Smith then could be used as trade bait for a veteran quarterback, or at a minimum, to acquire future draft picks.

I doubt we trade Smitty. If he leaves it will be because he wants to leave. As for Green, I would rather bring in a veteran who was proven. Exactly how many receivers have we developed lately? Plus we have a stable of guys already including Gettis,Lafell, Edwards, Martin, Clowney,Wright, and whoever we decide to pick up.

    • Sellers is absolutely one to keep an eye on. Could be the next Cam or could be the next Anthony Richardson. Curious to see how he has progressed come this fall.
    • I think Texas could go 0-12 and he would still go #1 based on his name and traits like you say.  But nusselman and sellers may be actually better qbs.    Man if bryce stinks it up this season its looking like a damn good year to swap out qbs.  Sellers highlights are just fuging jaw dropping
    • I mean, the kid comes from a wealthy family. It's not like he needs the money. He has a ton of potential now we get to see what he can do as a starter. Everyone penciling him in as the #1 overall pick is putting the cart way before the horse. It's 5% because of his talent and what he's showing on the field and 95% because his last name is Manning. And if he is what he's hyped to be the Texas coaching staff needs to be answering some tough questions about why the kid wasn't on the field sooner. Ewers was a good college QB but he's definitely not a "keep a future #1 overall pick waiting" type of college QB. Only getting one season out of a top NFL talent because you chose to keep him buried behind a borderline NFL talent is just coaching negligence. Not starting him as a true freshman? Yeah, I get that. But on year two if the kids is what he's hyped to be you gotta wish Ewers well elsewhere and turn the page.
