Jon Beason will go down in history as the greatest Panther ever.

I think he will, if for no other reason then the lack of punching teammates and perceived attitude problems. I love me some Smitty, but Beason has his fire and passion AND makes players around him better.

If being a good samaritan is part of the equation then Beason will jump Smitty on the list, but strictly from a football standpoint, I don't think Beason will be able to overtake Smitty and his triple crown season.

Smitty was the best WR in the game for one season and a top 5 WR for 2-3 seasons. He may not have the consistentcy we will see out of Beason for the duration of his career, but at his peak I truely believe Smith was one of the best receivers to ever play in the NFL... and before I get slammed for that comment, yes... I am a tad biased.

He's Ray Lewis V2 I swear love the heart/fire he plays with either him or Smitty though as far as this topic goes Sad how such a special WR was somewhat wasted with average QB's :(

The whole team was wasted on a bad QB.

^True

Not biased at all with that comment Smitty is so underrated most def been the best Wide outs after Rice retired. Yet the media hyped up Moss and Owens instead smh. He did what he did with average QB's, just imagine him in his prime with an above average to great player behind center scary.

    • Blowout incoming and the wheels fall off. Parsons will have multiple sacks, prob a FF. Media immediately starts saying the Bryce era is over
    • It's worth noting that we started playing something that looked like football after going down 17-0 against the Dolphins.  Up to that point we had rushed the ball 3 times and Bryce had two turnovers.   Then we ran it 5 straight times with Rico and he started cracking off some big gains and led to our first touchdown.  Another 37 yards of rushing later, Bryce goes 1 yard complete, incomplete, incomplete to get that field goal before halftime.  Then we committed big time to the run in the second half and played some really nice complimentary football.  The Panthers had stumbled on a formula, and it started with Rico being crazy productive.  Something they only learned because Chubba was injured and Bryce started that game so poorly they were forced to lean on Rico. Fast foward to Dallas, they essentially lean into the same game plan against the Cowboys and I think everyone was surprised by how quickly it started to look complimentary.  In my opinion the productive offense really helped the defense as well.  We played quite solid against a top offense. Finally we make our way to the Jets and Bills, Chubba's return.  You can't say the low scoring affair and return to ineffective football against the Jets was all on Chubba, they were indeed a better defense and so was Buffalo.  But the production difference between the two backs in both games was both visually and statistically obvious.  The bigger picture is the offense took a major step back as well.  They are other moving parts and it's isn't all one thing, BY9>Dalton by a decent margin at this point.   But yeah, Rico's vision and athleticism is just better than Chubba and it jumps at you.
