Whitlock on Cam and NFL in general

I wish we had the luxury to take Cam. I think he has great potential to turn into something. But it won't be right away, and I'm fearful of what things will look like this season if we do take him. I'd love to see what he turns into after a year or two.

ESPN will tell you Carolina has lots of needs.......Carolina realistically outside of QB doesn't have anymore than most teams. Carolina has a weakness at DT they need to address.....and they could easily address that and CB and OL in free agency. They purposefully didn't do that last year.

QB ain't stupid. There have been two real problems w/ Carolina since AZ......coaching and the QB position. We addressed one, now for the other.

I'm not saying this because of this article, but Whitlock has long been my least favorite columnist in the country. 90% of his stuff is either critical, depressing, or cynical. He also comes off as sanctimonious and condescending.

It isn't just about this article about Cam, it is a lot of things he has said the last @5 years.

But when people say he has "Tremendous upside", they are saying it because he potential to be a superstar, and possibly the first MVP worthy dual threat QB.

This sentence doesn't make sense. Most Cam supporters absolutely believe he will be a great QB in the NFL and that it is actually more likely he succeeds and fails.

Including our beloved Panthers apparently. And they have done 1,000,000x more research than you have.

So if newton can be as good as Vince Young without the emotional baggage, I will very happy. If you tell me that Cam will be in the pro bowl his rookie year and go back 2 years later, have winning streaks of 9 games and 6 games and have a winning record as a starter in years 1-4, sign me up.

Vince Young is a very talented head case who actually plays pretty good when he plays and stays out of trouble. Being compared to him is not a bad thing in my opinion. What kills Young is how emotionally fragile he is, not how good or bad he is as a football player. People compare Newton's football skills to Young, no one thinks Newton is a head case.
