Jim Harbaugh is hearing it from 49er fans

There wasn't really anything wrong with that pick.

49ers have a serious need for a pass rusher.

Alex is iffy, but to his defense since he's been with the 49ers he's had a carousel of HC's & OC's.

Unless they can land McNabb or Kolb, he really is there best option.

They could've traded down, and taken him.

Maybe maybe not, I read the Texans were targeting him at 11 for there 3-4 conversion this year. ESPN had some mocks of him going 5 to the cards, I don't think it was a reach at all

He was the most versatile DE/LB 1st rd talent left, With Manny Lawson not worth a sh*t and a FA, IMO it would have been to risky to attempt to trade down only a few slots and grab him for a very obvious need.

Time will tell....

This is all part of Harbaugh's master plan to land Luck next year. He is resigning Smith so that his lone veteran QB doesn't get scooped up to be someone else's backup next year. He will then do whatever it takes to land Luck, which shouldn't be too much considering he has a guaranteed top 7-8 pick with Smith at the helm of the team and a new scheme to learn for the O and D. If they start winning too much he can just throw Kapernick in there to guarantee some losses. I predict the 49ers to have one of the 5 worst records next year and the Panthers, Bengals, Browns, and Bills could all be in that mix as well. Out of those teams the only team they'd have to contend with to pick Luck would be the Bills. Its genius...

  • 2 weeks later...

I'd rather have David Carr as our QB than Andrew Luck. I hate that man with a flaming passion. If we would have drafted him next year I would say fug it and never watch football again in my life.

Well, then it is official.....you are a complete idiot.:D

    • Holy poo... we have allowed the fewest goals in the playoffs, total. Including the teams that lost in the first round... lmao
    • It was nothing. It was a nice run in an easy schedule that did nothing but lose us DJ Moore and a lot more. We were 2-15 in 2023. Based on your logic, that winning finish should have been a launching point. For as much as you want to say we shouldn’t have taken a risk, you still can’t admit that the plans we tankers laid out were proven correct. There’s no revisionist history. We said we should have traded Burns to the Rams. We said we should have sold off anything not bolted down like Brown and Horn and even Icky because they were in the 5 year plan. There is no disconnect, we tried to keep winning and draft a rookie QB and we lost about 4 1st round picks of value that could have been given to the guys you think might be the right crew.
    • You’re assuming Fitt still gets fired at the same time. That’s the problem with all these hypothetical hindsight thoughts. If we had a fire sale so to speak I’m not sure the GM gets fired a year or two later due to a bad roster and bad record. Fitt went into win now mode, made it seem like we were only a QB away “we won’t drafting this high again” trading picks for vets etc and when he couldn’t show results he was fired. I’m sure this was all mentioned in his GM interviews. What’s his plan to turn us around and how quickly can he do it. Also you want last year’s CMC and Burns on our roster? At their price? Moving on from both was the right call, with Burns being the wrong time. If a team does a full roster strip down rebuild it can buy the GM more time as long as everyone is on the same page.
