Clausen isn't 'real' competition for Newton

Hold onto the ball too long - doesn't sense pressure - seem lost sometimes?

We just managed to get rid of Trent Edwards. Looked like a deer in the headlights out there most of the time.

Personally, I'd rather see Moore than most of the names getting thrown around on the Bills' board. At least he stepped in well in '09.

I love this vet word everyone's throwing around like the pool of available vet QBs runs so deep while also forgetting to mention all the other teams looking for that same good vet QB. I would very much like to know the name of this enigmatic vet QB who (a) doesn't suck (b) has enough experience © willing to sit and mentor a rookie. 'We just need to find a good vet for Cam!' Easier said than done. Chances are he's going mentorless (unless you consider St. Pierre the mentoring type)

We need to bring in a VERY good Vet QB. Newton could beat Clausen on his throwing motion alone. Newton needs to be pushed to the max and needs to know the starting job won't come easy, even if you're the #1 pick.

I can translate this one: "But lets not bring in someone better than Newton, because he is the #1 pick. So lets push Newton without really, genuinely threatening his chance to play. Someone who can take over if Newton fails early on, and then give the job back to him when he is finished. Someone who will keep Cam from being thrown to the wolves, because we don't want out first overall pick to bust. Someone to give Cam everything Jimmy didn't have, so I won't judge Cam after 5 games and write him off like I did Jimmy."

Bills fan here, hoping a few of you guys would take a minute to give an honest opinion on Matt Moore. The Bills are shy at least 2 QB's right now (some one would say more) - and the FA market has a long list of possibles as a backup, but all carry baggage of one type or another.

Moore looked good (statistically) in '09, but last year looked rough. I see that there were 8 sacks, 5 QB hits & 14 pressures in the 1st 2 games. How much of that was on Moore vs the OL vs the receivers?

Paging TRD.... paging TRD....

Jake is a nice guy...no one can doubt that.

I think it would also be doubtful that his arm would fit Rivera's vertical game.

His arm is shot as is his confidence.

I would hate to think of Newton going down and Jake having to come in...with the first interception, everyone would remember that god awful playoff game, and the rest is history.

I thought that this video was very interesting... given all the things that have taken place since then. I'm also seeing the strange parallels in the whole Denver-Carolina saga. I think that other than the Panthers, I will be watching Denver very closely this year.

I think whats interesting about the things that they were talking about prove how OFF-Kilter these guys predictions are.

Possibility, I just don't think Fox is very high on him imo.

Misconception.

7-9 here we come, Denver!!

7-9 is a strange estimate considering Moore was either very good or very bad, nowhere near mediocre or inconsistent across games. He was either very bad for a long stretch or very good for a long stretch.

11-5 or 3-13 is a better guess. DO better.

i agree, didnt fox not like moore? and besides they already have a back up, mediocre qb on that team.

Meh.

    • Seriously? A CB who missed all that time on his rookie deal and was also a top 10 pick when the guys picked right before and after have been studs. A RB our GMs tried to replace with FAs and 2nd rounders and two backup level players is one of the best drafts we’ve ever had? I’d argue that the 2011/2012 drafts were better even with just Cam and Luke/Norman. Here’s the drafts I think were better: 2017, maybe 2018, 2015, 2013, 2011, 2012, 2008, 2007, 2001, 2002 (just Pepp) I’m hoping 2025 is way better as well. Honestly, we’ve kind of sucked at drafting overall and that’s the only reason you can even remotely call Horn, Hubbard, Tremble and BC a good draft let alone one of our best ever. Good teams that draft well would laugh at that as a great draft. If you want to look at say the 2023 Lions draft, you’d get 4 stud/above average/average starters not just 3 replaceable starters/backups and a top 10 pick that missed half his games. That’s a draft that helps turn a team into a playoff team. Our record since our 2021 draft is 19-49. A best ever draft doesn’t go 19-49.
    • I remember when football was great.    Wasn't this century.
    • Bingo. You can't pay that type of player elite franchise QB money. That average starter type player can excel when he's surrounded by top shelf talent in a great offensive system but pay him elite QB money and you're going to really struggle to surround him with the type of talent you need to carry him. You pay those elite franchise QBs because they can carry your roster. You can't pay guys who have to be carried. Bryce showed glimpses down the stretch last year. I really hope he keeps building on that. But before we back up the Brinks truck he needs to show that he's the type of QB who can lift up and carry the offense because when you pay those guys that's what they're gonna have to do.
