When you break out a position by a single stat you can get some wildly inaccurate stats. I'm certainly surprised that there's 10 "catchable" balls that he dropped. What that stat doesn't speak to is the amount of double teams and coverage rolls Steve gets any given Sunday. Steve Smith's speed and route running ability forces defensive coordinators to change their protections just to try to shut him down. That opens up opportunities elsewhere on the field. To just take the "drops" stat and say that Smitty has fallen off, is a long stretch in my book.

meh....smith sucked last year. wasn't all on the QBs throwing to him. his attitude sucked. he was making poor decisions. he was hurt part of the year. he just wasn't anywhere near his level normal play.

You could tell by watching that he wasn't running the correct routes either. The timing was way off quite a few times.

Any article that doesn't have Roddy White in the top 5 and has Braylon Edwards in the top 10 has no credibility. I would like to see what he categorizes as a drop. Roddy White dropped his first pass of the year in week 15 or 16.

There is no arguing that Steve Smith dropped a lot of passes last year. There is also no arguing that Steve Smith has great hands - last year was an outlier.

so the stats were lying? :lol:

it was a look at drops...thats all. a look at what receivers were able to make the most catches when the ball got to their hands. it isn't a gauge of who puts out the best fantasy numbers or TDs or yardage or targets...just who had the highest and lowest percentage of drops.

everything that profootball focus does is credible. you may not agree with conclusions or like the results, but they are the most accurate place to get stats and numbers there is.

      Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
