According to Florio over on profootballtalk.com, Shawn Rodgers would like to be released by the Browns... I think he'd look great in a Panthers uniform, but we probably couldn't afford his asking price... maybe a trade with the Browns Rodgers for Peppers?

I'm hesitant with Shaun Rodgers because it seems he wants out of every place he goes. I don't think a trade is going to happen for a DT with our current DTs in place. They played really well last year except for right after their injuries but if the team thinks they can come back full strength then I see no reason to replace either of them...

Well, I can't necessarily fault a guy for wanting out of Detriot and Cleveland... he's probably got sores from sitting at home on his couch every January.

uhhhhh, we have two situational guys(kemo can't rush the passer, lewis can't stop the run) who are backed up by undrafted rookies and old beaten up veterans

we need depth AND talent on the defensive line in the worst way

I'm not saying we should trade for rodgers, but we need a lot of help on the D-line

He'd like to be released eh? Much like Peppers wanted to hit the free agency market. These guys have no idea.

Rogers has been a bit of a hothead/malcontent in prior jobs.

With that said, he's talented and just the kind of every down guy we could use as a starting DT opposite Kemo. Add in that Peppers for Rogers plus a pick or two wouldn't be so bad value wise.

I'm torn.

Haha I wish we could get Rogers for Lucas. Still he is a perfect fit in what we do. Him and kemo together would be like the Williams wall in Minn.

Absolutly, he's a massive run stuffed who can collapse a pocket from the middle. Lucas and a 4th and he has to agree to a restructured contract. If we could keep him in the middle and Pep on the end the back 7 would never see linemen.

I'd rather have Pep and Rodgers, I want Andersen too, but I'd take Pep over him to have a nasty d line.

Peppers is worth at least a 1st and 3rd round pick. Rogers is not. I think Cleveland sent Detroit a 3rd and 4th last year for Rogers. In no way, should we ever even think about trading a 1st round pick for a 4th.

I really doubt Peppers wants to go to the Browns and they are going to want him to sign a long term deal before making any trade final.
