For Matt Moore: Bad News and Good News

Mr. Scot

At this point, if we trust our new offesnive staff to make Cam great, then I'll trust them to make Clausen into a serviceable backup...therefore we could have anyone from Moore to Kyle Boller to Gradkowski to Bulger to Volek as our QB...I'll be easy with whoever. Shula and Chud are key, not this nitpicking and choosing which vet works best from this sh*t FA class.

why would we want any of those guys to be our QB if the staff can make cam great?

 talkin bout 3rd string QB...that's why it doesn't matter

*sorry should've clarified that originally...I'm under the impression Cam starts day 1, if there is one

yeah, it just looked funny to me.

and i agree with that assumption.

that said, i'd like for us to have brought in someone with a good amount of starting experience who can help out on the sidelines and in meetings and watching film. that kind of rules out guys like moore and boller, imo.

Don't know if Moore will ever be a good qb, but I do know that I can't evaluate him or any other aspect of the passing game based on the last few years. I have no faith in Fox or his OC to be able to implement a passing game, or properly assess receiver or QB talent. So if Moore comes back, he starts with a fresh slate. Same holds true for Clausen.

Yeah, that's been mentioned a lot since we drafted Cam, but depending on Shula's coaching style we may not necessarily be that needy of a "mentor" type role that people have been discussing. But...a mentor vet can only be beneficial from a developmental standpoint, however if we get the injury bug, I'd prefer throwing in a younger guy with starting experience over someone who's a better mentor/coach than a player 30+. My only elder exception is Bulger

I thought TRD was Matt.

no, TRD is Jimmy Clausen trolling us all. You thought making up a girlfriend was crazy, he's now made up an entire internet persona, complete with wife, life ambitions, job, even a believable past that qualifies him to discuss things on a forum when in reality he's Clausen. Best troll ever.

I was under the impression that the QB Controvercy was over and done with when we took Mr Señor Cam Newton with the #1 pick... The depth situation will work itself out. We now have an Amazing front office and I have faith that we will keep who we need to keep and dump who we dont need.

Mr Mr Cam Newton?

Why do we all of the sudden have an amazing front office? When you say we "now" have an amazing front office, it implies we didn't before. What changed?

I'd definitely like to see what he can do coached by someone other than Rip Scherer.

For what it's worth, our old buddy Meat said Fox hated Moore and believed he might have deliberately put him in a position to fail.

If you want more info on that front, you'll have to ask Meat.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
