it was hilarious reading the tweets from media guys appalled that the players would have the gall to shut them out. saying that it was a slap in the face of the fans and crap like that. that it was bad pr. they started ridiculing the practices and belittling what they were going to be doing (like they would know getting shut out and all) and at the same time causing an uproar that they weren't allowed to watch.

i even had a long chat with bill voth (one of the local beat reporters and actually a pretty good one at that) about it. i posted a lot of it in another thread and it started back up again last night when i got about 4 tweets from him.

anyway...there were still columns being written about it afterwards and there was another one today from michael silver (who?) from yahoo sports, i suppose. unbiased journalism? lol...not when it comes to someone giving the press the cold shoulder...then it gets personal.

here's some of that michael silver article...if it wasn't so pathetically funny because it show just how self important these guys think they are, it would make you mad (and it still might).

Punk move by Panthers players to lock out media

I have a message for the Carolina Panthers players who thought hiring a uniformed cop to keep reporters away from Tuesday’s workout session at a Charlotte high school was a good idea. And against all logic, I’m going to deliver it without the benefit of police protection:

You guys are acting like morons – and wimps.

Yep, I said it, and I’m prepared to own it, because it’s my job to enunciate opinions and accept the consequences. Then again, I’m actually being paid for my endeavors, unlike Panthers workout organizer Jordan Gross(notes) and his locked-out teammates, who nonetheless behaved as though the flow of information from day one of their faux minicamp was as privileged as their condescending owner, Jerry Richardson.

.

.

.

To be totally honest, the Panthers’ decision to put a cop outside their practice session is but a minor annoyance to me. On a metaphorical level, however, it’s infuriating. My job is to care because you care, and you should be thankful that I’m good at it, even when people put up barriers.

Usually, it’s the Polians and Parcellses of the world who go to great lengths to keep my fellow journalists and me from getting the real story. This time, it’s a bunch of well-compensated athletes who’ve incorrectly identified the enemy while appearing clueless and intimidated in the process.

Nice work, Panthers. On a positive note, once the lockout ends and the games begin, you’ll have to play a lot better than you did last year to merit any coverage whatsoever from reporters like me.

the rant is pretty long. be sure to lock away breakable objects and kids if you get mad easily.

What a joke....

Prick can't get the media coverage he wants so he rips the players and makes cry baby remarks, I hope reporters like this are being put on a black list so that when media is finally allowed, their questions are simply ignored.

That guy is totally blind to the fact that normally the players have help from the franchise to help manage the media. Should they let fans watch too? It would be a mad house. Also why is he taking it so personally? They blocked out the media over concerns about doing their job, it's buisness.

Honestly would it be that hard to get around one cop and spy from a distance as well?

bahaha stupid reporters. A cop keeping them out and I sit here on my ass with more knowledge of the panthers than anyone in the media has written. No one is enlightened, why don't you do like the rest and login to the huddle to find old topics to start an article.

    • I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.
    • The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.
    • We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
