Steve smith said he briefly considered retirement when his wife was ill. She's OK though and he plans to play in 2011.

also some other quotes from steve reed pertaining to the camp:

Smith and Newton playing Ultimate Football with young kids. Look like they're having a blast.

Steve Smith still won't divulge his plans for the future, avoided a question about whether he would be willing to play for Carolina.

A kid asked Cam Newton if he's better than Jake Delhomme. Newton laughed and said, "Time will tell."

Cam cracks me the fug up!!! Nice Lil shot in there to Steve! Btw, I wouldn't read too much into them having a lot of fun at this youthcamp. They both love being around kids, and to them that's more than likely all it's about. Now the camaraderie that they're building... That's where you'll get your money's worth. Can you imagine hearing our horrible Fox announcers saying "and there's another touchdown from Cam Newton to Steve Smith"

Unfortunately we are still far far far away from a resolution with this lockout... And even farther from the season than we were yesterday!

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
