Chester's run blocking is suspect but he would be an upgrade over Bernardeau. I just don't think Schwartz has the feet for RG and D. Robinson is the other big mystery.

Also, I think the battle would be between Chester, Ziemba, and Robinson. The reason I put Chester starting is because i dont know what we have in the other two guys. Schwartz may be in the running for RG but from what I gather, they would like to keep him at RT. And if we did put him at RG, essentially we only changed 1 thing from last years poor line and thats having Otah back. Chester also has value as a backup plan at center in case Kalil gets hurt.

Otah...............if he comes back. WTF is up with that dude.

I had high hopes for a Robinson/Otah right side two years ago. I think Ziemba could be our RT (or maybe even LT) of the future. The Ziemba pick was excellent IMO.

The Ziemba pick was off the charts good. He could start anywhere on the line.

Forget Edwards,,, Forget Holmes. Edwards is all about himself and NO WAY do we touch Holmes with the Casino issue hanging over his head.

If Robinson comes into camp out of shape he will be out of a Job.

Otah, to me, is about $$$$. His final season he will play well for another big paycheck otherwise we won't see his dominance until then. He is a candya$$ who doesn't play with pain. I hope I am wrong but from what I see he collects a big paycheck and does nothing for it.

Schwartz I think would do wonders at Guard next to Otah but I don't see Otah playing much. That would move Schwartz back to RT unless we get Ziemba to play there and keep Schwartz at RG.

I believe we go after ONE DT not two.

While we need to get to the CAP floor 1st. I think we will sign ALL our Free Agents, Get Beason under a long term contract. I think we spend the big bucks on Defense in a CB and DT. Offense I think we will keep to form and bring in a G/T talent stuck behind an All Pro. The contract will be good but nothing out of this world.

Good idea. Let's remove the best performing lineman behind Gross from last year.

Schwartz flat out balled last year, at both OT and OG. People are worried about the guy who had inside information saying they didn't want to rely on him incase he did a Bernadeau. Well the difference was Mack didn't even play that well in 2009 and only played a handful of games. Schwartz has a full season under his belt and then some. He is actually our 4th most experienced player on the OLine so frankly I feel if anyone should be dropped, it should be Otah, after all Otah isn't exactly a dominant force in the passing game...

Here is the thing, Garry Williams was monumentally bad. Mack was not AS bad, but still pretty bad. Wharton only struggled in the run game. So ensuring Williams never sees the field is one huge step up for starters. The

OLine play is more about chemistry than individual stars, so giving Schwartz, Kalil, Gross and Wharton time together with either a new starter or Otah will result in a significantly improved OLine performance.

Here is the other thing, our offensive gameplan hardly ever did anything to prevent the opposition from pinning their ears back and gunning for the QB. Too often our OLine would handle their matchups to then have overload and delayed blitzes catching us out.

Oh and Travis is a DT not a DE.

they are not gonna make their rookie QB have to put up with Steve Smith and Braylon Edwards. They don't want Cam to have a hard a time and want to put him in a good situation/enviroment. Steve Smith is ALL a QB like Cam can handle.

Will we still have a load after re-signing all of our own free agents?

I don't think so. The reports I have read which could change as the negotiations continue, suggest that we have to spend 90% of the cap in cash this year (or roughly 125 million). If we are committed to around 73 million already, we could reach the 125 million after signing Williams, Johnson and Davis alone. Again the 125 is not cap money but cash. If we sign Johnson to a 5 year contract for roughly 9-10 million per year, the signing bonus will likely be 20-25 million. If we sign Williams for a 5 year deal for roughly 30 million again likely 15-20 million will be guaranteed. So conservatively taking the low end number adds 35 million to the 73 million which is 108 million. Now add just Newton's contract which even under a rookie wage scale will likely be 5 years and 40 million with likely 20 million guaranteed and we just hit our 128 million figure. That doesn't include Beason and or the myriad of other guys on 1 year deals, tenders which will be converted to free agency or legitimate free agents. Sure we could spend up to the 145 million ceiling in cap space and likely will, but Richardson will likely approach the 175-180 million range in salaries or cash paid this year (different from the cap) without signing any free agent from another team.

The fallacy in reporting we have only 73 million committed to players and lots to spend ignores the fact that we have a ton of players not signed or locked up. Just signing our core group of guys will use much of the cap and close to 70-100 million in cash. So regardless of the cap, Richardson is not going to have the money available to toss it at every free agent vet out there.

Plus even if he did, with free agency compressed to a few weeks and everyone going in a feeding frenzy to sign guys, teams wil likely be overspending this year as there won't be a big name signing period and then another signing period after the draft and another after teams pare down the rosters. That is all being compressed into a short window and if rosters are allowed to expand into the regular season many guys by the time they are released will do us little good.

That's what I thought. I figure that we might get two middle-tier or one upper-tier free agents at best. I'm hoping to see Cofield and a good cornerback. I really doubt we go after an offensive lineman or a receiver this year, but they've surprised me before. :)
