Seems good to me.

In advising its player reps on rookie pool, NFLPA projected Cam Newton would get $22M over 4 yrs and, another $14.3M in a 5th-year option...

But with that 5th yr being an avg of top 5 salaries at his position, it can only be an estimate for now. So they estimate $36.3 over 5 years

NFL.com reporting Newton's contract could be worth $36.3 over five years. which pales in comparison to Sam Bradford's $80 million last year.

A bunch of money, but nothing compared to what it was or the direction it was headed.

I don't know if the system will work, its still a rookie pool. Rookies can still negotiate a better deal. There's just a cap on the total amount of money that teams have to spend on Rookies. The big question is did owners and players limit option bonuses that rookies can get as that's what ruined the last rookie pool.

Rookies can not negotiate another deal, nor the team until the 3rd year of contract.

Wishing he was locked up longer and I still say it is not a positive but oh well.

If he is the real deal under the old rules he would be a bargain until the last year of the contract. If he ends up being the real deal now, he gets his 100 million dollars from somewhere and a 10 year deal at age 25 or 26 rather than still being under control for 3 more years by us.

    • I knew very little about this player before we drafted him. When I read scouting reports about him I understood the pick and thought it made sense as a late round receiver with speed and special teams ability but after watching him more closely and now adding his interviews into the equation I'm actually really excited about him. I know it's just RMC but I noticed him running his routes with this extra step that really stood out to me during the general video posted earlier without realizing who it was doing that.  His speed in his first cut is just on another level and it's visible. When I saw it I was **** whoa, who was that?! Then I saw Horn JR. and my first thought was oh it's him. I think it's very possible that he was under appreciated going into the draft due to his height and stats because he played at Colorado where the attention was on 2 other players but I think this dude's ceiling is way higher than most think it is. Especially after watching his interview. He looks hungry. I may have found my fav rook for this year's pre-season. I like pulling for underdogs anyway and as someone who played on the small side myself it just gives me more reason to cheer for him. The competition at WR looks like it's going to be fierce this season. I honestly can remember any preseason where I looked at out wr group and got past 3 players who I thought were interesting but this season I'm interested in at least 5 who have my attention going into the season.
    • Wilson should be getting called for at least 3 penalties a night even in the post season. How does he not lead the NHL in PM???
