The biggest mistake JR can make is leaving $$ on the table.

Sigh, we dont have 2-14 talent.

So I am tired of hearing that.

Last season was an anomaly with lame duck staff, and major cost cutting.

Sigh, you know what I'm tired of hearing? Homers, who season after season, think the Panthers have a shot to be great. Four winning seasons in 16 years! We have never had back to back winning seasons! I know it's still early in the FA period, but a rookie or Clausen will more than likely start the season at QB this year. Other than that, we have not yet improved this team ONE bit. We always bring in average joes (read: the DT, S, CB signed so far), so what we've added thus far will not improve us.

Rivera can be a breath of fresh air all he wants, and the other coaches can shake things up all the want, but they're not out on the field making plays. Are we better than 2-14? Sure. Are we still that Playoff team from 2008 that has had a crazy ride since Jake's implosion? Nope.

If you aren't getting better, you're either getting worse or staying the same. I hope we get better in the days to come. It'd be a nice change.

you build through the draft not overpriced free agents...we have brandon hogan and kendrick burney to try and evaluate this year..if we can get another CB on the cheap sure, but they aren't going to make us world beaters themselves.

Exactly! I a new CBA where every has to essential spend the same amount of money on player salaries cap management is more important than ever before!!!!

Over paying for FA who end up being mediocore just hurts us in future seasons when we are a player or two away from making a superbowl, but can't spend like we need because we are caught up with bad contracts eating at the cap with players who needs to be replaced.

This is not a superbowl year for us, we don't need to fix everything in one off season at the risk of hurting our team in future years!!!!!

have some patience

Our Philosophy remains the same, and I don't understand why guys don't get this. You build through the draft, and add mid level FA's as needed. This isn't gonna change guys.

Hold on guys. We are on a good track its a process and they mostly take time. Jimmy or Cam will be the starter at QB. We dont need to spend big money to bring in players that might not workout. We can get some good players from a decent amount and if it become a time we have to cut them it wont hurt us a bit. Like we need a CB we dont have to go after jonthan Joseph but it will be good to have him. We could get Cromartie or Rogers who will probably be way more cheaper and still get almost or as the same production.

What makes other teams like the Patriots, Steelers, Packers, and others good is there system. They know what they want in a player they have a vision for there team. its not about right now necessary its about prepartion and the future to extend to make your product better.

This has been our strategy for 16 years and we have had a winning season exactly 4 times.

Maybe its time to try something different

The Packers and Steelers build via the draft and make relatively small waves in free agency.

The Lombardi trophy seems to approve.

Sigh, didn't look like brucebrewski's comment was saying we've got a shot of being great. he just said that we don't have 2-14 talent, just like you said. no mention of playoffs was made until you said it.

saying that we are/could be improving this year isn't being a homer and it isn't saying we are going to the playoffs.

Well I for one think we could make the playoffs. None of the divisional opponents are anything to be scared of.

Scared No, but realistically we play in arguably the best division in the NFL... and a young one that will be great and competitive for years to come. We are becoming the new NFC East.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
