QB starter per Lombardi

just on NFL channel...

Lombardi answers the question of who will start by saying it will probably be DA due to familiarity with Chud's offense but Cam should get in there asap as DA's accuracy is a huge question and our offense will struggle with him. No mention of JC as a possible starter.

This is kind of what I thought on the thread yesterday about who may start next Friday and how many reps they will get.

They can say that they know, but they don't know any more than we do...

I think it all depends on how camp goes. If Cam is ready in the eyes of the coaches, he will probably start. If he's not, and DA looks better due to his familiarity with the system, he'll probably start. I don't think there's any way Jimmy will start, but you never know.

that could be..but i'm not sure he knows what he's talking about. has he seen anything or talked to anyone inside the panthers or is he talking out of his butt?

He is just guessing.

Pat Y seems to suggest his insiders say ideally Cam goes week 1.

I get the man crush on Cam. I am excited about him too. But I don't see how it's so easy to dismiss using useless practices with a QB who knows the system to give the rest of the team more time to get a handle on it. There is a reason he was brought in and logic says he is to warm the team up for Cam to take the reigns.

Anyone who looks at this preseason for the Panthers as a clue to who the staff has fingered as QB1 is not looking at this very intelligently.

    • I hate to burst anyones bubble but this guy played 188 total defensive snaps in three years but 802 special teams snaps. If we do kick the tires, it's probably gonna be for that latter part.
    • I do believe that Evero gets canned before the end of the season and Capers takes over the D. I think the stage is set for Evero to fall on the sword for a 4-7 win season.  Not saying it would be a set up but I do think if that transpires, the seat under DC might start getting pretty warm, rightly or wrongly. That's my read on Tepper. I am not at all excited nor am I dreading anything. I just have extremely low expectations so I am just waiting to see what this revision of the roster looks like.  I FEEL like we are better on paper than last season's team but I wouldn't be remotely shocked if we were as bad or worse. Again, I do think this is the 2nd worst roster in franchise history overall. What will really make me happy is for some of the big questions to finally be answered(Bryce, Ikey, Horn, etc). I would like to see a real expansion of our core player pool(basically just D. Brown currently). I want to see a couple of hits in free agency and a couple in the draft. If we accomplish those things, I have faith that we are at least moving in the right direction after many, many years doing the opposite.
