DT Ron Edwards injured

Recommended Posts

Where was that? Since they aren't on the active roster, why would they count against the cap? I would like to see how they justify that one.

I think I read it on PFT and then Reed or Person tweeted it after the injury tonight.

edit: It was Gantt. Here is the tweet or twat or whatever the youngins call it

daringantt Darin Gantt

Yes. As Kurtis Blow would say, those are The Breaks. RT @Larger20 With Edwards done for season, will he still count against the salary cap?

Marcus Stroud, Pat Williams, Ma'ake Kemoeatu... only options I can think of, really.

The last two listed in that article would be better than any of those 3, in my opinion.

Clifton Ryan (6-4, 324) 5 yrs An original 5th rdr who has some decent speed (almost 5 flat in the 40), he bulked up a bit his first two years to become dependable but not spectacular for the Rams. Could be a good investment if he can be had on the cheap

Gerard Warren (6-4, 330) 11 yrs Bounced around a lot in the league but had a respectable 2010 for the Pats, finished with 38 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 16 games, 10 starts. Looks like the pickins are slim folks....out of all these, Warren might be the best but at 11 yrs in the league he may not have a lot left in the tank. Feel free to throw more names out on this list, this is the best I could do using the lists on Roto, ESPN and the NFL site.

I saw the article on PFT about the injury but not that he would count against the cap even though he went on IR. I know they talked about doing away from IR and letting folks come back but it went nowhere. What is the rule.

What that in response to keeping him on the active roster and hoping he comes back or after going to IR. Unless that changed, he doesn't.

Not sure. Like you, I don't see why a guy on IR would or should count against our cap.

I was just thinking about this, how many years has it been with this team where DT is a need? Honestly, anyone answer this?

Traded Jenkins after the 07 season, but he battled injuries in the years before we got rid of him. Buckner called it quits after 05. So I'd say we haven't been solid at the DT spot for atleast 5 years... and its sadddd:(

Poor Ron.. was looking forward to his contributions this year, hope he gets well soon.

Yeah we all hope he gets better. Its gives our Rookies DT's the opportunity to play now. Fua needs to step up. He is very young and he was the rock for that stanford defense. If he could do that for our defense that would be great. But thats to much to ask for a rookie DT.
