A qb poll ....

Zod

trade cam before hes even suited up for an actual game? a number 1 overall pick? are you guys nutz. Jimmy looking good in practice is all great and all but i'll reserve my judgement for when the guy is back in an actual game with defenders that actually want to hit him.

I think Zod was referring to Jimmy Jam "killing it" during the preseason and regular season...

Someone forgot to read the OP

Till just before the trade deadline

If a team with one or two wins offered us a number one and an impact player at a position of need for Cam you have to do that deal. That would mean Jimmy would have performed at that level against the Packers, Bears, Saints and Vikings defense some of the better in the league...

True, Clausen is cheap to retain... but if the Panthers got tremendous value for him (CB, picks, etc.) from a team that 1) really needs a quarterback... like the Redskins... 2) is unlikely to finish last in the league and win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes... like the Redskins... 3) runs a variation of the WCO... like the Redskins... 4) is in a different division... like the Redskins...and 5) is known for coughing up big bucks for players they like... like the Redskins... you could very well see a trade.

I started a thread a week ago saying that this first preseason game is Clausen's superbowl. This is why... it's an audition for the league because his tenure in Carolina is already over.

Like I said other then draft picks what do the Redskins have that our team needs. At DT the only players of value are this years FA pickups which I doubt they would move and at CB it's Hall or bust and I've already expressed my thoughts on Hall. Also if a team that looked like it was going to have the #1 pick offered it for Cam or Jimmy for that matter our FO would accept it in a heart beat. They would trade the other QB (not involved in the trade for the number one pick) for another first rounder and grab Luck with one and go and get a DT, CB or WR with the other first....

Wait this thread is about trading Cam when Jimmy lights it up this year. Do you honestly think that if any QB, not just Jimmy, puts up the kind of number in the OP that any team would trade them? Regardless of who is sitting behind them? WOW

So you would rather keep a guy to play 10 or fewer plays a game then trade him and get the best CB' date=' DT or WR in the draft next year??[/quote']

Trading Newton is so ridiculous..

Not only noone would give you a first round because if you are ready to trade Newton for a first rounder you know something they don't and so noone will deal with you.

Anyway Newton is a Carolina Panthers QB, speaking of trading him after 2 weeks make you look like an hamburger eating surrender monkey.

Give this kid a year and let him play at time, then we will speak about him next season.

If Clausen lights it up like Zod's hypothetical situation suggests then Cam wouldn't sniff the field except for in situational goalline and wildcat situations. Like I said if Clausen is playing like Zod suggests give me a shutdown CB, pocket collapsing DT or big play WR in the draft along with another impact player of need to put this team over the hump. Also, did you seriously call me a hamburger eating surrender monkey....swag for creativity....

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
