Winners and losers from tonight

Our D was awesome pretty much across the board. Even with a lot guys out, they played like somebody stole their little brother's lunch money. Nice to see the DT's get some push in the middle. Giants were not prepared for the intensity on defense an special teams.

Good for Jimmy bouncing back from that awful, awful throw. Newton should be our starter week 1 though. Good first game for him overall. Olsen will be a beast. Armanti was impressive. Still need a #2 WR to step up.

Goodson is going to get in Rivera's doghouse soon if he doesn't hold on to the ball. Rivera was giving him a tongue lashing on the sideline after the 2nd one. Tons of talent, but this team can not afford stupid turnovers.

I think Pilares will make team. Charly Martin might as well. I hope Barnidge does.

Duke Robinson is ridiculous.

Overall, I can not say how impressed I was. Hail the Rivera/Newton Era! Like someone else said, the Panther faithful are the biggest winners. BOA is going rock this year!

i put JimNmy in the winners section due to his touchdown pass, his pick six was bad, but he scored a TD, he did hold the ball for a long time, but the reason is no one seemed to get open, i put him in the winners section because he looks improved. NOW Newton had a better game in my book, but Clausen had a good game too.

throwing the ball to the flat late behind the RB is asking for trouble. yes he did improve but that was a bad play.

Didn't really see any losers tonight.

Cam has a lot of potential. Jimmy looked like the smoother, more experienced QB (which he should).

The guy threw a perfect ball into the opposing teams hand for a td, how is that smooth? Damn, there is no need to bash Jimmy for tonight's game but there is no need to overlook the fact that he was way more shakey out of the box than Cam. Thank God he redeemed himself with a nice td.

I definitely liked the coaching Rivera was administering on the sideline to Goodson and others.

That sure beats the hand clap / gum chew maneuver any day.

yeah i admit, THAT was a bad play, that was his one mistake that i knew was trouble, other than that though, i thought he played well.

Gross= Loser . Gives up 2 sacks in one quarter. Jason Pierre Paul is a beast, but Gross is supposed to be a pro bowl LT

That second sack was squarely on Jimmy for not stepping up into the pocket. Gross did his job perfectly.

I'm not as sold on Newton as everyone else is. Mostly in reference to the "Rivera/Newton" era. I am more convinced it will be a "Rivera" Era... ok that sounded funny. Riv-era, era. Riv Era.

Anyway, I like Cam a lot after seeing him in this game, but he wasn't playing against first string and if put in a regular season game and expected to perform for the whole game at a high level I feel he will run into serious issues. However, I don't see anything that is concerning besides throwing off his back foot.

Cam threw some dangerous passes too. That pass from Jimmy was stupid and made me angry, but he threw some nice ones before and after that. It wasn't really his passing. He just looked more polished than Newton (who I am not expecting anything from, unlike everyone else).

46 return yards and 36 receiving yards. Got stripped on a slant but looked pretty good. Has work to do but night and day from last year.

Why do people keep saying that LaFell was a loser? I thought he looked pretty darn good.

In fact, I don't even want to name a loser from tonight, because I saw young guys making plays all over the place. That defense was outstanding, considering how many starters didn't play at all.

I think #46 might have been the biggest winner of all though. That guy was a monster in this game.

Lafail with 2 drops in the endzone one was just lazy and the other one was right in his hands. Should have been Cams first NFL touchdown and a huge confidence builder. Thanks to good ole hands made of concrete blocks.

Duke Robinson should have stayed in Spartanburg and had a few more twinkies. Terrible waste of talent and size.

i didnt call him a loser, BUT i dont think he was one of the winners because there were plays where Clausen was sacked and part of the blame is on the WRs not getting seperation, but because he had a good play or two i dont put him in the loser section.

Lafell dropped one pass that was on the money, and a would be TD from Cam. Honestly thought the WR losers of the night have to be between Lafell and Clowney.

Other than that screen, he was non-existent and dropped some on the money passes as well.
