Cam Newton is not an upgrade at the QB position, he held us back from getting an upgrade at the DT, WR or Corner positions.

His impact is being felt more than just his errant throws due to his terrible footwork that you denied for months.

If you honestly think Nick Fairley or A.J. Green would come in here and make our team's problems magically go away, you're smoking crack. No... you're doing five-ways till sunrise.

The issues on this team go beyond one player at one position. But we've ALREADY upgraded the QB position going from Clausen to Newton. If you can't see that, you're a retard.

And your "omg footwork" B.S. is old man. Newton's footwork has shown exactly what I would expect from a rookie playing behind a cardboard O-Line. He's throwing off his back foot because he's running from defenders when he throws. How and the hell are you supposed to plant when you've got a DE about to yank your arm off?

Yet, despite that, he has had some good footwork on a number of throws.

God damn... it's going to be a long ass season putting up with this poo from you.

Luck looks like a carbon copy of Jimmy Clausen minus a few interceptions and yardish. There is no gaurantee that he wouldn't be anymore shellshocked than Jimmy, woking with the O and D-line of the Panthers.

But something tells me if he had choosen to join the draft and got picked by the Panthers, many of u sitting there picking Cam apart would be way more willing to tollerate Luck if he had produced Cam's numbers with the team he has to work with. And what is so sad is, many of u picking Cam apart for his #s would be rationalizing Luck's.

you need to watch more college ball.....Luck and Clausen don't appear to have a lot in common. Clausen looks like a pure Walsh WCO QB in the NFL.....Luck could probably handle any O. Cam looks to fit here pretty well pending he progresses and they actually start running and playing D.

Cam needs time, having said that, I think it wouldn't be a bad choice to start DA for some games, and see how he does. In my eyes, Clausen is still semi-rookie, and could use the time sitting and watching too.

But let's be honest, the whole team is playing pretty terrible. Like someone mentioned, we aren't running the ball even close to as much as we will in the regular season. We have great backs, don't expect us to not use them. We also have great TEs which will be used. Once those things are working, it should open up some passes to our WRs. It's preseason, a chance for our coaches to try out some things and see how they work, I think it's too early to judge. Remember, this is NOT a John Fox team. The way we perform in the preseason is not a 100% depiction of how we'll do in the regular season, like last year. Give the players and coaches benefit of the doubt, but also, keep expectations in check as we won only 2 games last year.

Don't expect Cam to be amazing, but what we SHOULD be seeing is improvement, each game, and plays here and there. If there isn't improvement, somewhere, each week, we may have an issue, but it's too early to tell.

    • Im not angry. Im disappointed. I want to win. Anyone who has watched Bryce play the last 3 years and thinks that this team has in any way seriously addressed the glaring deficiencies in our QB room is deluding themselves. It's been explained ad nauseum how our FO has protected Bryce from feeling even slightly challenged or pressured. A GM without an interfering owner would have brought in another QB to at least give the team a better chance at winning. We just gave an extension to a QB that only got 3k yards on the last play of his 16th game of the year. Indy admitted AR wasn't good enough by bringing in Jones to compete for the starting role. Tennessee drafted Ward to replace Levis. Stroud hasn't repeated his 1st year and Mills' performance was decent when he filled in after Stroud's injury and some were calling for him to remain starter. His future there is still in question even with a 5th year. We should have done the same, especially given that Bryce was benched.  Bringing in Grier is just another glaring billboard pronouncing the obvious. Dave Tepper still has his hands in the daily operations of this team. He controls the QB room because Bryce was his pick. Until Tepper finally admits that Bryce has barely lived up to the standards of a NFL Qb, we're going to spend our days reminiscing of when we were mediocre and finished 9-7.  It's just discouraging. We'll address every position on the field except the one with a glaringly obvious shortcoming. I had hoped Tepper really had backed off. Bryce's 5th year, Dalton's 2 year contract then trade, Kenny Pickett, Will Grier, Jack Plummer, and  Hendon Hooker say otherwise. It already feels like it's going to be a hard year of Panthers football to watch.
