Other Teams Cuts

I know it's been mentioned but i put my vote in for Jovan Haye. He got pushed out by young talent but i read one article that he had put on some weight and was not cut for lack of production. I say Jovan and Balmer could be our starters with McClain and Fua rotating in and gaining experience slower.

That really surprises me. I thought he was pretty high on their depth chart. I wish we had a guy like him in place of Brown.

I dont know what is left in the tank but he only had 2 sacks last year down from past years.....I dont know if an injury was in play or not.If that plays into getting him that about what we have with brown.

But Hardy is a guy that was a 6th round rookie last year that only saw limited playing time and hasn't played a down of preseason under a new defensive scheme and I'm not even sure he's practiced yet. He's shown flashes, but this is no "Cam Newton must him play him immediately" situation. I think Greg Hardy is an optimal rotational guy *as long as* Alex Brown is as solid as I remember him being. If not, Hardy it is.

Hardy's draft position was a mistake, IMO. He was rumored to have an attitude problem and was uncoachable. Had he come out a year earlier I believe he was one of the top ranked DE's.

However, Brown looks to be very solid but I don't want to see up and comers lose reps to short term vets in what's looking like a relatively non competitve season. I'd just assume see the young guys get as many reps as possible.

While he's certainly the exception, just remember than James Harrison went undrafted altogether.

I just hope we are hovering over any Steeler or Packer cuts. They seem to know how to draft and acquire talent.

Packer WRs- absolutely.

Steeler offensive players?? Not so much.

As for defense- unless their players are cut because they are playing in the wrong scheme and we think they translate better to a 4-3, we wouldn't exactly want their defensive players since, they play a 3-4 not a 4-3 and many positions don't translate that well.

Still do not understand why we didn't pull the trigger.

Read in one of the comments to the article that he was wanting $5+ per year. For that price, I can understand why we did not make a move for him.

He is nowhere near worth that price.

Interested in seeing the terms of the deal.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
