Digital Spy:'Modern Warfare 3' multiplayer features unveiled

Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer has been fully unveiled, and will be one of the most significant revamps of any Call of Duty title to date, says Activision.

The biggest change is to the Kill Streaks, which is renamed as the Point Streak system, and will see objectives and assists contribute to your streak as well as kills.

Point Streak will be divided into three classes: Assault, Support and Specialist. Assault and Support will have 28 new Kill Streak rewards between them based on offensive and defensive play.

Meanwhile, Specialist streaks will unlock a new perk for every two kills, with a total of eight kills unlocking every available perk until the player dies.

New Point Streak rewards include remote controlled helicopters, mobile turrets, the ability to become a Juggernaut, booby trap care packages, share ballistic vests with your team and more.

Several new modes will be available, including Kill Confirmed, which sees players collect dog tags from fallen players that contribute to a points total for your team.

More than 18 maps will be featured on the disc, including arenas set in London and Paris, while custom private match scenarios can be created and shared with other users.

A host of other changes are also included, such as a Prestige Shop, the reclassification of shotguns as primary weapons, the removal of the Commando perk and more.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty Elite will be fully embedded into the game, with premium members receiving downloadable content before regular players as part of their subscription on a monthly basis, as well as other benefits.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
